Welcome to my nightmare. I am a fan of a lot of bands, but a lot of them don't tour Ontario. And none of them ever come to my town. Except Green Day in 1994. They brought the Riverdales with them, but I didn't know who they were then. Pity I didn't pay attention.

That's a shocker. You have to very in you province, Toronto and Ottawa. You figure somebody would stop. The only time bands stop in Syracuse is for the New York State Fair, and the majority of them suck.

Well, sometimes bands do play in Toronto or Ottawa, but that's a 4 1/2- or 7-hour drive for me, respectively. And the fact that I'm poor doesn't help, since going to a show in TO would most definitely require spending a night in a hotel, since I'm a big wuss and won't let people under 25 drive my car, which is a Focus, which is great on gas, and therefore the only car we'll ever take. Long sentences!

I have to got to Rochester (1 1/2 hrs.) Albany (3 hrs.) Buffalo (3 1/2 hrs.) or NYC (6 hrs.).

That's not bad. Okay, 6 hrs. is a lot, but 3.5? Easy. The longest I've ever driven (well, we too turns driving) to a concert was 5 hours each way. We got back just as the sun was rising. Needless to say I did not go to class that day.

I have the same situation. I live in a cultural abyss. Unless I get really lucky and someone comes to Iowa City (e.g. TMBG, The Starting Line) or the Quad Cities, it's usually a drive to Chicago (4 hours) or the Twin Cities (5.5 hours). Oh, or Madison (2.5). I always forget about Madison.

Yeah but the only problem is the NYS Thruway is the route I have to take and it's toll road, and it is also turning into an Autobahn.

Usually I only have to drive for about 30 minutes to get to Cincinnati.
40 Minutes to Dayton and about 2 hours to Columbus.
I will never bother going to a concert in Cleveland or Toledo.

Oh, I just remember that it's about a 10 minute drive to Paramount's Kings Island, where a lot of concerts I like are held.

I just recently traveled to Wilmore, Kentucky for a music festival.

Ack. The words "music festival" and "Kentucky" in the same sentence bring nothing to mind but sheer horror.

When I read that, "Dueling Banjos" started to play in my head.

My biggest pet peeve on these forums, by far, is people who feel compelled to quote reams of text in order to merely reply. Like this guy.

My second is people who use ugly banner signatures. Which is most of them.

I hate to say it, but you're quickly becoming the mods' biggest pet peeve.

Sparkle that sounds like something I would say. No need to apologize for saying the truth.

Well, sometimes we get busy. We can't all drop everything to answer all the request there.

My peeve is the week leading up to a concert or a play.
I have a concert on next week, on Friday and Saturday night. I am so nervous. Because I have three solos. Ya, that's three. They are:

If ever I would Leave You,
Anything You Can Do,

and a small part in Greased Lightnin'
Probably a reason I won't be on much for a while.

New Pet Peeve (actually an old one): Quotation marks used for emphasis.

It drives me nuts when I see a sign that says something like:
Quote:
"Fresh" Donuts!

Guh. Stab me in the eye with a "grapefruit spoon".

New pet peeve. When people post disgustingly disgusting violent graphic suggestions, and I have no way to bring them to pass. You see, I happen to have this grapefruit spoon here...

Anyway, a big pet peeve of mine is when I get in trouble for what my brother does. It makes me SO MAD!

Just think of it this way: It's just karma catching up with you for all those things you did do but got away with.

What?!? You must think I was one naughty baby, or something. Well, I geuss you're right. I threw my dad's keys in the garbage... twice. I turned my dad's computer off, right when he was about to save his tax files. I climbed out the window when I was supposed to be taking a nap and went swimming in the neighbor's pool. I would go on raids in the house and pul of all the books in the bookshlefs. And after all this, I went and hid in a box, so mad momma wouldn't find me.
