Ah. Actually, after we studied Beowulf, we had to write an epic poem, two to three pages in length (I ended up with four, but oh well), ideally, with three kennings, alliteration and the half-line form, so the assignment's not entirely foreign to me, although we didn't have to make it a sequel to Beowulf. I'd say, in this case, that I got off lucky next to you...

Oh, Darn!
Thanks for reminding me Jitka.
Gotta get to my fanfic!

So Wikipedia "Avalon" and take Beowulf on a trip through the afterlife.

I'm getting kind of tired of " :p " after every single post someone makes.

Like, it's really annoying. Sometimes it's too obvious that you're kidding, and the " :p " ruins it.

Peeve: There is a Britich newspaper called the Sun, famous for its 'Page 3' (topless women). What I hate is when my brother cuts out the page three to stick on his wall. I open the newspaper, ready for some nudity, and BAM!, I get hit by page 5, politics.

So? Just go in his room. Apparently his room is full of it.

Wait, on second thought, just read the politics.

I hade when I'm driving and I'm going over the speed limit and people are still tailgating me. And then I hate it when I'm signaling to change lanes after I've passed a truck on the highway and someone who's going about 85-95mph has to squeeze around me just as I'm shifting over. It's very annoying, not to mention very dangerous.

My brother is 20, yo. He doesn't live here.

And Ace: I need my daily nudity.

No need to say the second thing. I got all I needed from the first statement. ;)

I thought this was a paper that came to like...your house with your parents and stuff. That would be kind of strange to have around, especially with what I've seen of parents and censorship.

It's Europe, their censorship laws a extremly laxed compared to the US.

No, its not at my brothers house:

1.I cycle to shop and by the sun/mum drives to shop and buys sun
2. My Dad drools over paper/reads sports
3. I try to get the newspaper (complete with P3) into the bathroom with my (for undisclosed reasons) before my brother coes over.
4. My brother comes over, drools at paper, cuts out P3.

Sometimes number 3 doesnt happen (because number 4 happens first.)

Ok, I have mega Jibblies now....

My big pet peeve is when you're told books will be required for a class, then, when the time comes to use that book at the end of the semester, the prof gives you something he wrote because he didn't like the book. Sure, for him, it's a pain in the butt because he had to write something, but for me, it was $96 I coulda spent (and needed to spend) on a portable hard drive or a BIG memory key.

Okay YES. That really ticks me off. On a similar note, I hate how the university bookstore jacks up the prices of the books, to an insane level. Like they don't suck enough money out of us.

I completely agree. They buy the book back from us at the end of the semester for 20% (if we're lucky) of what we paid for it, then turn around the next semester and sell it to another student for 4 times what they paid us for it.
For that reason, I stopped selling my books to the bookstore. If I thought I needed a book later on, I kept it, if not, I would trade it to a friend for another book (make sure you take Gen Ed. classes in a different order from the order your friends are, and this will work almost every time). I usually only had to buy 2 books, at most, a year

Yah, I sell my books back to other students, half price. It's more money for me, and less money they have to pay for used at the bookstore. It's a nice system, that. I keep most of my books though, since I want to teach. They will come in handy, down the road.

I really hate University admin though. Greedy lil...........

I know how you feel. I spend over $400 in books this year, and I only really use 1. I'm going to use Amazon though next semester.

Amazon is good. WalMart is another really good place (nothing about WalMart.com says textbooks, but, you'll find their prices aren't too bad).

I wouldn't set foot in Wal-Mart if it were the last store on Earth.

Then try WalMart.com, like he suggested.

What's with the sudden prejudice against Wal-Mart, anyway?
