Here is the designated "(Insert sport here)!!!!" thread for the great game of basketball.

I am a Jazz fan. Deron Williams in his third year is the 2nd best point guard in the league, Boozer is an all-star power forward, and 2nd-year Ronnie Brewer will have a breakout season at the shooting guard spot. If Andrei Kirilenko returns to his old form, the Jazz will go to the NBA finals.

I also had my first fantasy NBA draft this afternoon... I ended up with Arenas, Deron, and Vince Carter, with Ilgauskas and Pau Gasol down low. I'm pretty happy with the team. Since I named my team Robert Swift MVP, I took Mr Swift himself in the last round. Here's his picture from when he was a rookie:

And I tried to find a picture of him now, but Google images failed me. Let's just say he has two ponytails, a scruffy goatee, and about 20 tattoos. It's awesome.

Not if they have anything to say about it and judging by what they did to the Jazz last year, I don't think that's going to change.

Spurs are on their way down. Timmy and Ginobli aren't getting any younger.

The Jazz are on their way up. Deron, Boozer, Okur and AK are all young and only getting better.

Michael got beat by Detroit a few times before he got through them. The Jazz will get through San Antonio.

They still got a few good years left. This is just Duncan's 10th season and Manu just turned 30 this past summer. They still have a while yet.

LOL, NBA

Only a little over a week until Kentucky tips off their season with a new coach.

They're playing Pikeville College. Honestly, they'd have a better challenge if they played Pikeville High School's football team.

Right now, though, it's hard for me to get excited for Kentucky Basketball. The football team is 6-2, and ready to win out for this season.

I am already a starter on the homeschool basketball JH team in town. :P

May God be gracious to you though.

Good luck on that.

And speaking of Scholastic basketball, who is your pick to win the NCAAs, the perfect tournament. I'm going with UNC to win it all. They are have all but two players returning from last year's squad that came three points short of going to the Final Four.

The Heat trade Antoine Walker, Mike Doleac and some other guy to Minnesota for Ricky Davis and some other guys.

Should have some interesting fantasy implications.

Doesn't really help the Wolves, though. They still suck.

I think we've got enough people to do this. I've set up a fantasy basketball league for the forum. RSVP by PMing me.

Boo basketball, go football! Too bad the season has already started so we can't do a league. Oh well, basketball's bad, in the good way like Michael jackson's song.

Go Toronto I guess?

I don't watch too much basketball ever.

Not Kentucky.

I say Elite 8 for the Cats.

It'll take Billy a year or two to get things jelled and his new system in placed.

Honestly, I don't know who I pick in the NCAA. Seems like most of the power teams from last year have graduated players.

Jazz beat down Golden State, Lakers lose to Houston. Good start to the NBA season as far as I'm concerned.

Oh, and the Spurs beat Portland. :)

The Trail Blazers are already missing Oden. I did like his comment after he found out he was going to have to miss a year.

"I'm going to be the best bench warmer in NBA history."

GO BOGUT! AND NASH!

Didn't expect the Suns to flattened that easily by the Lakers a few days ago. They've got a long road ahead.

Patrick Patterson: Best player in the SEC this year or best player in the SEC this year?

How much do you want to bet that Doug Gottlieb gave Kansas their only first place vote in the Preseason ESPN Poll?

Gardner-Webb...

GARDNER-FRIGGIN-WEBB!

Even the coach most UK fans act like Tubby was could have won that game.

Now that's serving up an upset special.

You can go hang out with Michigan State and Ohio State in the "Teams That Lost to Sucky Teams" club.

BWAHAHAHAHA. I love seeing upsets in college sports. Kentucky football doing well is awesome. Kentucky basketball doing crappy is awesome.

:)

My tidbits (interesting things I think):

Suns got over the Rockets a little while ago, 115 - 105. Barbosa continues to have a solid season, making 21 points. If there's 2 people you put in your fantasy team, it's Barbosa or Manu Ginobili.

Found out Andrew Bogut's PPG average is 10.7. Would that be considered a fair total?

Allstar Voting is up. Have some fun. :)

Gilbert Arenas' new nickname is Nacho. As in,

NACHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

BYU beat #6 Louisville tonight 78-76. BYU goes to 5-0 on the year... looks to be the best basketball team from the school in a long time. Hopefully these guys can win an NCAA tourney game (something the Cougars have been unable to do for a loooong time).

They play North Carolina tomorrow and should lose, though if they won I wouldn't be that surprised. Even with the loss, BYU should be ranked in the top 25 Monday morning.

Well, Syracuse lost Wed, but made up for it with a nice win yesterday. They need to learn the 2-3 zone or they are going to be in for a long season. The need to learn when they go to Virginia and they need it mastered by Big East time.

I hope Syracuse learns some defense soon. They can put up points better than any team out there, but they can't stop the other team from doing so. If they learn defense, there won't be anyone who could stop them.

How did this thread fall to the third page? I thought we had more basketball fans.

North Carolina is still #1(WAHOO!), Kansas is still overrated and Doug Gottlieb is still a moron.

There's not much to cheer for in San Diego.
I did see that USD beat Kentucky a week or so ago.
Or something like that.
