Jazz fusion + metal + robot vocals = a surprisingly good band. The only thing I don't like about Cynic is the death metal growls, but they use those pretty spairingly, so I can live with it.

This bass solo from Bootsy Collins.

Not sure what song it's from, but I love it. Bootsy may not have the technical skill of, say, Les Claypool, but he makes up for it with ridiculous amounts of funk and good use of effects.
