Won't Be Long by The Hives

Just got my copy of The Black and White Album. I have some complaints with the album, and it's definitely their least consistent yet. Too many freaky experimental tracks. But some of the songs, this one and "You Dress Up For Armageddon," especially, are insanely catchy. They're more pop-punk than ever.

The mention of "freaky experimental tracks" perks my ears, but I suppose it'll just be something mundane like a dancy electronic track rather than the outrageous strangeness I constantly crave

NP: Iron Maiden, "The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner". Weird topic to write a heavy metal song about. I do like me some Maiden, possibly my favourite "proper" metal band, though "Heaven Can Wait" is the best song off this album (Somewhere In Time) and as such all the other songs come off the poorer for the comparison

Yeah that's what it's more like. Dancy Electronic stuff is a big change from the indie-influenced punk that they usually do.

I'm listening to VeggieTales. Makes me feel five again.

The title of this song confuses me...

But after that I'm listening to Last Splash- The Breeders.

If Geddy Lee's voice was just a half octave lower, I'd be a Rush fan.

Hellfire again.

It truly is awesome. I case you don't know, it's sung by Judge Claude Frollo and as he sings about Ezmerelda and he blames her for him taking a fancy to her. There's a lot of cool fire and music and stuff.

Duh it's RHCP. Many RHCP songs include "awesome bass line."

Noel! Noel! by Eve 6

Made a Holiday station on Pandora. The songs aren't as similar as songs on other stations, but I like variety Christmas music. Apparently the only similarity so far is "it has electric guitar parts."

Ben Lee - Thrash Unreal.

So for those unaware: Australia's little darling singer/songwriter, Ben Lee, covered Against Me!'s most recent album New Wave in its entirety and posted it for free on his website. It's pretty interesting.

The outro solo of this song is amazing.

ArkAngel - Hard Attack

"Kick it hard from the back to the front, front to the back!" The beat to this song is so funky. The music is very simple, but dark. The ending is very abrupt, but that could be fixed in a DJ mix set or by just a simple fade.

CSS - Let's Make Love and Listen to Death From Above

I don't care if CSS, and especially this song, is the wonder-darling of every hipster dance club DJ. It's a really good one.

I never really got in to Rage, but I like this song. Good riff and catchy lyrics.

See, I feel like the Hives really missed the mark with Tyrannosaurus Hives because it really just sounded like they were trying to cash off the big New-New-Wave/Post-Punk-Revival à la Franz Ferdinand and others. Barely Legal still remains their strongest release so far, but Veni Vidi Vicious is almost just as good too.

Anyway.

Action Patrol - EQ45
It's more hyper 90s insano-core, and I'm very happy with that. Everyone should listen to Action Patrol. Plus, you can download their entire discography for free, which is always respect-worthy.

Too true.

Sadder? Weirder? - Bomb the Music Industry!

It looks like BtMI! put up new demos on their MySpace. Both seem like a major step up from Get Warmer!, which is always a good thing.

Funk you if you don't like "Boys Don't Cry." End of story.

Sonic Youth - Titanium Expose

What an awesome, awesome, awesome song. Listening to the main riff is better than any drug.

Sonic Youth - Tremens

Haunting second track off SYR 1. I think I like the super-experimental/avant-garde Sonic Youth stuff the best.

The Abbey Road ending medley is better than you and your face.

Particle Man - TMBG

I listened to this song so many times when I first got into TMBG that it's just annoying now. But still kinda cool.

When I first got into TMBG I listened to nothing but Ana Ng. I have no idea why.
