AKA discuss metal in this thread.

Bloodbath's new album is pretty much done and is coming out sometime this year. I'm really excited for that.

Tenacious D is only in this thread because the title/OP are a reference to The Metal.

EDIT:
Has anyone heard the new Opeth album?
I like it but I miss their old drummer.

It's just music. Plus, they praise God and Jesus in their songs, making them Christian music.

I like lead better.

If you want some straight up no-frills non-melodic death metal, try Death's Scream Bloody Gore album.

Death's Scream and Bloody Gore? Now I'm basing this entirely on the name, but can you possibly name death metal any more stereotypically than that?

But if you do make sure to get the entire Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence album; it's phenomenal.

Listen to Evergrey: they have some of the best riffs for a metal band.

Well, Death was one of if not the first death metal band and that was their first full length album. So yes, it sounds like an incredibly stereotypical band and album name for a death metal band but at the time it was new and fresh.

Thank you iand.

Rule 1: no metallica vs. megadeth crap
Rule 2: Seriously
Rule 3: Go to youtube for that thing or something

King Diamond, Dimmu Borgir, and Dusk and Her Embrace from Cradle of Filth is what my ears have been atoned to as of the latest late.

Lately, I've been listening to a lot of "old school" death metal like Death, Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse, and Bloodbath (they're a newer band but they play the same kind of music) with some newer melodeath like Arch Enemy and Amon Amarth.

who can forget such heavy metal classics like Iron Man by Black Sabbath, Come on Feel The Noise by Slade then covered by Quiet Riot, and the awesomeness that is ac/dc's TNT, or would you guys call that "Hard Rock"

I would call those metal because they're classic, but if the same songs came out now, a lot of that stuff would probably be classified as hard rock.

On the subject, I found a record in my friend's basement titled "Heavy Metal," which had stuff like Deep Purple and Black Sabbath, but mostly consisted of things along the lines of The Eagles and The Grateful Dead. Metal sure has earned a different definition these days...

I like fast metal that deals more about the things I can relate to, such as beer bongs and Kurt Russell movies. Wizards and Satan can be cool to sing about, but only in a fun, less serious way, with more emphasis on wizards. And I'm pretty big into the kind of wizards that tend to be painted on vans, not Harry Potter.

So that's why my two metal picks are:

Municipal Waste

&

The Sword

Black Metal is sometimes cool though. Sometimes.

Drive it on up and let's cruise a while
Leave 'em very far behind
You can hedge your bet on a clean corvette
To get you there right on time
Now if you're ready to dive into overdrive
Baby the green lights are on
It's like you're runnin away on some high octane
Every time she reached the boulevard

Won't you take a ride, ride, ride
On heavy metal
It's the only way that you can travel
Down that road
Satisfied, fied, fied
On heavy metal
Baby won't you ride
Ride it until it explodes
Heavy Metal

My oh my how this lady can fly
Once she starts rollin' to leave you
You know you just can't lose the way she moves
You wait for her to finally release you
It's not a big surprise to feel your temperature rise
You've gotta get your redline fever
'Cause there is just on cure that they know for sure
You just become a heavy metal believer

Won't you take a ride, ride, ride
On heavy metal
It's the only way that you can travel
Down that road
Satisfied, fied, fied
On heavy metal
Baby won't you ride
Ride it until it explodes
Heavy Metal

Violence and Sex in every story. Including Sex between a robot and a Jewish woman.
