Yeah, Tenacious D is not metal. Ya know who is metal though? Machine Head. |

Post subject: | Re: METAL! |
Tenacious D is only in this thread because the title/OP are a reference to The Metal. |

Death's Scream and Bloody Gore? Now I'm basing this entirely on the name, but can you possibly name death metal any more stereotypically than that? High Skool Artist wrote: theres always some prog-metal like dream theater, which reminds me, try the glass prison by dream theater But if you do make sure to get the entire Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence album; it's phenomenal.

Listen to Evergrey: they have some of the best riffs for a metal band. |

Well, Death was one of if not the first death metal band and that was their first full length album. So yes, it sounds like an incredibly stereotypical band and album name for a death metal band but at the time it was new and fresh.

Lately, I've been listening to a lot of "old school" death metal like Death, Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse, and Bloodbath (they're a newer band but they play the same kind of music) with some newer melodeath like Arch Enemy and Amon Amarth. |

who can forget such heavy metal classics like Iron Man by Black Sabbath, Come on Feel The Noise by Slade then covered by Quiet Riot, and the awesomeness that is ac/dc's TNT, or would you guys call that "Hard Rock" |
Author: | SnowyFox [ Thu Jul 10, 2008 4:22 am ] |
Post subject: | Re: METAL! |
I would call those metal because they're classic, but if the same songs came out now, a lot of that stuff would probably be classified as hard rock. On the subject, I found a record in my friend's basement titled "Heavy Metal," which had stuff like Deep Purple and Black Sabbath, but mostly consisted of things along the lines of The Eagles and The Grateful Dead. Metal sure has earned a different definition these days... |

I like fast metal that deals more about the things I can relate to, such as beer bongs and Kurt Russell movies. Wizards and Satan can be cool to sing about, but only in a fun, less serious way, with more emphasis on wizards. And I'm pretty big into the kind of wizards that tend to be painted on vans, not Harry Potter. So that's why my two metal picks are: Municipal Waste & The Sword Black Metal is sometimes cool though. Sometimes. |
