One play down, three to go...

WOW! we did amazing tonight! Well, at least following that horrible rehearsal last night...anyway...I got there and they spend like twenty minutes putting make-up on me. And then they decide it is wrong and do it all over again. It gets settled and the play starts...there was a full-house (nearly), and almost everything was perfect...I did well in all my scenes, but did not do so well at dancing...oh, well! There's always tomorrow and Sunday to make things better!

It's like they always say: The first performance is a lot like the Final Rehearsal.

Plays - it would be one of those annoyingly long posts if I listed them all (I know how snotty this sounds, but I've been acting pretty much since conception, which makes it some 24 odd years).

I have an audition next weekend (eep! Unprepared!) and my next tour starts the 8th. Yeah man.

PS - break a leg to all y'alls!

PPS - I am wearing my new Strong Bad cap as I write this. :sb:

Three performances done, and one to go...

We did two peformances today, one at 2:00 and one at 7:30...in the afternoon showing, I was mumbling so much, that I couldn't even decipher what I was saying...but it all improved at 7:30. Everything was perfect...I hit all my notes, the bottle that hits me in the head actually exploded into a million pieces (which was pretty awesome), and I wasn't mumbling at 7:30...well at least not as much...and the best part about it all was that they taped the 7:30 show and not the 2:00 one...thank the lord! In between shows I caught up on some gossip, and had some pizza...oh wait! I don't need to tell you everything! Anyway maybe sometime I'll be able to show you guys my play...although somehow I doubt it.

It's kind of funny though, because yesterday night, before curtain on the first show, I was longing for it all to be over. Now, three performances later, that's the last thing I want. I mean, it's just so much much fun...

Three down...one to go... :((

Well, la-te-da! Just shove it in our face, why don't ya?

I've never really been any good at acting. I've always been good at like, gutair recitals and bored games.

I've never been in any plays except for our Grade 8 production of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas", in which I played Cindy-Lou Who, but had no speaking lines.
My high school had a nonexistent drama program (the only drama classes available were offered only in French) and never put on any productions at all. We had a pretty good band, though.
Had I gone to the drama school in my town, I can see myself having been a big drama kid. As it is, though, I just turned into a punk kid instead.

You have no idea how scary it was to read this, because our school's doing Honk!, too. I tried out, and they put me in the "chorus," which isn't even really in the script, but was something they added afterwards. Alas, there are no small parts...

What about li'l old TEF?
Anydangway, I should have 4 down, 4 to go, but they canceled both Saturday performances of Tuck because of ice. So now it's 2 down, 4 to go. Frankly, I thought we did a pretty good jorb, although it could have been much, much better. Ah well.

And ikipapa, I agree with you. The plays are just so much fun. Even if you hate half the cast.

I am very involved in the local Youth theatre in my town of Greensboro. I am a devoted actor and I believe its my true passion in life, aside from Homestar :p .

Of course, being devcoted to acting lends you to teasing in school.
"You queer! GIRLS are involved in the arts. Boys play sports!"
"Shakespeare! Wasn't he, like, assasinated?"
(facepalm)

Actually, the head of our theatre department became an actor to MEET girls! He was a football player in high school who figured out that lots of girls were actors and guys weren't, so he tried out for a production, and the rest was history!

Me, and my friends (who are guys) in my choir, get many girls. Especially now, after a production...many notes being passed during class...unfortunately, I am the only guy of the four major guys to get asked to the dance...it's telling me something, I know it!

I love to act! I've been in a ton of musicals. There's a theatre group in my town that does a ton of shows and I've been in all of them since I've qualified (age wise)

Probably about 15 about now... hm...

Right now I'm in Sunday in the Park with George there (I know! Awesome!) and in Seussical (blech, I know) in school.

Oh! I like Seussical :)

Ya, my choir is gonna sing Broadways greatest hits in a concert this spring (June). I can't wait!

Though I have been in a couple musicals, I still can't sing to save my life, so, I didn't go to the Sound of Music auditions on Tuesday. 'Tis a shame, though- I wanted to be Friedrich. But he has to sing.

OMG I was Graylag too! It was one of the first off-off-broadway productions in America by kids and teens (2001). Try to get your hands on the original London cast recording (which is very hard to find outside of England). I played him like a cartoony moron sort of character.

I'm trying out for "Annie" in two weeks. I don't think that there are any parts for me in it, but they say they need teen boys.

Well, I just got back from another Tuck Everlasting performance. Not so bad, but one of the characters screwed up her line at the beginning and left a gaping plot hole. Ah well. Three left! Even though we missed two due to ice!

Oh, my dad loves Les Mis. Cool.

Waaah! Tuck Everlasting finished about an hour ago. That really, really stinks.

I won't be able to do another play till The Music Man in September, then Frosty the Snowman in December and finally Charlotte's Web in January/February. The one I really want to do is Charlotte's Web: same director as Tuckerlasting, and 99% of the cast is auditioning again. It's also the only one that's not a musical in the next season. I want to be Templeton.

Afterwards, there's A Year with Frog and Toad (I doubt I'll audition) and Disney's Aladdin, which I hope I can do, solely on having a chance to play Iago. Iago rules.

So! That's a summary of our local theatre's plays. Isn't that gweat?

That's true. Although I'm probably just trying to do all of these plays because I took a year off after my last one. TUCK reminded me how much I love to act.

Oh, and I'm not allowed to audition for Jack and the Beanstalk. Summer camp issues.

:) I don't really hate the show itself, there are just a few things that I don't like about the show itself:

A) there's no real defined style of the music. that annoys the crap out of me!

B) the writers added pointless one-liners that were just put in to make it seem like there were more Seuss books added to the plot! that annoys me the most.

Otherwise, the show's pretty good.

I used to hit up the boards quite often, the ol' resume including such favorites as The Baker's Wife in Into the Woods, Madame Dubonnet in The Boy Friend, Kate Keller in All My Sons, Mayor Stockman in a revised version of Ibsen's An Enemy of the People, the rather small You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, the even smaller cabaret-type review Pulitzer!, and most recently, one of the oddball monologuists in The Vagina Monologues. For a short while I was also active in the collegiate improv troupe Live Nude People with Clothes On -- at least, when it was still new.

I'm a minor in Drama, and I did make it into the Advanced Musical Theatre Workshop here at college. But I doubt I'll be a professional actor. At one time I thought such was a thing was possible, but nah. I'm leaning toward the film professory gig now, and I shall probably leave the true actor's life of happiness n' poverty to my talented best friend, who's out there right now, bravely doing the theater bit for the actual moneys. Recognize.

Ah, I've been listening to Into the Woods for a while, though I never actually saw it. Good play.

Oh, and a couple of people at my school started discussing a middle school doing The Vagina Monologues when our Spanish teacher told us she couldn't let us watch a PG-13 movie.

Oh, that really sucks...don't you hate it when there is something you love, but something you are really looking forward to gets in the way?
