I've been acting for awhile, and I'm majoring in theatre in college. Some of my favorite roles that I've played were Roger in Grease and George in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?.

I was born to act. I did some minor stuff in middle school, and I played a mechanic in a play called Murder in the Air (good bit of speaking there, loved every minute of it) and a leading role as Adam in The Diaries of Adam and Eve by Mark Twain (that was a lot of fun). I haven't done anything truly huge in college, yet, but I did star as a preacher in a festival of short plays. I was even nominated for an acting award! Next semester though, I'm gonna audition for one of the big shows, and I'm gonna land a big role. I know it. It's what I was born to do, and I don't think anything is gonna get in the way of that.

I'm not a stage actress, per se, but an opera singer. I'm a much better singer than I am actress, boy howdy. American stage acting is just not my thing at all.

I've been singing opera for a few years now, including The Magic Flute, The Mikado, The Merry Widow (lots of M names. Weird), and others, as well as doing vignettes from operas such as La Boheme, Arianna, and La Rondine. I also have done many solo performances, as well.

I've done 2 shows at school in the last couple months; in March I was the Steward in "Into the Woods", and last month I was Eric Fenton in "Death Takes a Holiday".

I really like acting. I'm going to try and get a part in a school play next year, if I have the time. We have a acting group called "Shakespeare Troupe", and I'll try for that if I can.

I love acting, I always have. I just never have had any chances to seriously start learning to act.
Besides, I've got a gazillion different things keeping me busy, and I'm already 19. Of course I could try something like voice-acting or acting in some low-budget amateur indie-film if I ever manage to come across one.

I was the lead role in The Music Man at my school this year. It was alright, everything went well, but the school seriously overdoes everything (buys the rights to the play, uses this giant theater that belongs to the Upper School), and each (2) cast only gets to do 1 night. But after, I have me a bunch of fans, both young and old. One kid's mom stalks me now.

I had a lead role in my school's play the stories of scheherazde. I was the bad guy, Nefario. It was 2 hours long and I got a healthy amount of dialouge and 2 songs. What fun! :)

I'm one of the chorus people in Rats!, a re-telling of the Pied Piper thing. I wanted to be a rat, but at least I get a lot of screen time. And of course, the lead roles went to people pretty much no one lies, and were overall bad descisions.

Everyone agrees with me on that.

Rats! update: My friend got kicked off, so now I have a more important role in it.

I'm Jimmy Pickle, a child. The children get their own big scene, too, which I'm good at. And i know all my lines, and I was only playing the part yesterday. The small show is on Thursday, and then we have a big show on the 25th.

Awesome, break a leg!

On Friday I'll find out if I made Advanced Acting at my school; I'm so nervously excited!

I actually found out today. I didn't make Advanced Acting for next year.

I knew it all along: I'd been having more visions of not seeing my name than actually seeing my name. It was a prophecy. I had so many hopes riding on this: it's Advanced Acting, THE big drama ensemble!

I don't feel like I'm a part of the drama program at school. I know I'm "in" it, but I don't feel like I belong. I feel excluded and alienated from everyone else; I just feel like "that one guy" instead of "one of the guys". Sure, I've done 8 shows since I started my freshman year, but I feel like I haven't been recognized for anything from my peers. Just a "you were good, Ian" and that was it. When I enter the room, I just enter it. I'm not warmly welcomed like all the "popular" drama kids.

So what do I do? Stay in drama, & hope things get better? Or do I just give up & go home after school? I know God's called me to theatre, but doing it in high school lays a foundation for the future. I want to major in theatre in college, then eventually become an actor, whether on Broadway, Off-Broadway, here in Denver or wherever. My dream is to perform with Blue Man Group.

Maybe theatre just isn't my thing.

Take it from a professional actor, Ian. High school theatre is a nice experience, but honestly, other than that simple experience, it will get you NOWHERE. It doesn't matter if you do 0 shows or 100. They will look at your college work (and beyond - grad school, conservatory training, or your post grad acting jobs are moreso what Broadway is interested in). Don't worry! Stick with it and study hard in college. You'll be fine. Good luck, button!

Thanks, Ian! Despite all of our flaws(read: us repeating the fist verse in the first song twice, forgetting one of the props and "winging" it.), it was pretty fun. And I agree with SC on that matter.

Apperantly for the big show I am an understudy, but I'm not chorus, either. I'm a chorus child, which means I actually get to go on stage. it's-a pretty fun.

I was in that one too. I played Axel McGee.

Lotsa fun.

I love that play. I was Susan. I told my director I wasn't allowed to kiss before I turned 16 (my dad said so) so that I wouldn't have to kiss Axel. :)

I'd list the rest of my experience, but Jones wants me to leave work so I can hang out with him. Wonder where he got the idea I might like that...
