Has anyone ever had a mondegreen? In case you don't know, it's like when you mishear a song. I had one, in a bunch of songs, actually. Like in Silicon World by Eiffel 65 (I still don't know the words, but the ones I hear now make much more sense) I heard "Silicon victory in this world of trees."

I thought mondegreens were more along the lines of transposing letters or syllables in phrases. One example of a (possibly apocryphal) mondegreen is from Chuck Jones' autobiography "Chuck Amuck." (if you don't know who Chuck Jones is, just check out the Wikipedia article on him here) The secretary who worked at the animation studio that Chuck Jones (among others) worked at sometimes would sometimes answer the phone, instead of "Schlesinger Productions," the far more humorous "Pleasanter Seductions."

No, that's a spoonerism. Compare:

Well, maybe I spelled it wrong, or maybe your definition is wrong. I dunno which it is.
A mondegreen (also sometimes spelt 'mondagreen') is the mishearing (usually accidental) of a phrase, such that it acquires a new meaning.

The word is a mondegreen of "They hae slain the Earl o' Murray and laid him on the green", from the anonymous 17th century ballad 'The Bonnie Earl O' Murray', the last five words being misheard as "Lady Mondegreen". Sylvia Wright is thought to have coined the word to describe all such mishearings. While a common occurrence for children, many adults have their own collection, particularly with regard to popular music.
Now you know why it's a mondegreen :)

I have had quite a few. Like the song "A Taste of Your Own Medicine" from Auditions with Marzipan, I didn't look at the computer; my sister was playing so I had no idea what any of the lyrics were. I misheard the entire thing except for one word which was "a"

Homestar you're American. Homestar you're American. Give the bird a Homestar you're American.

It was very dumb.

Another thing (this makes much more sense) is I misheard the Prince song "When Doves Cry" when he sings "She's never satisfied" I heard it as "She's never sat inside".

In the song "Slime Creatures [does the title include "From Outer Space" or not?]" I misheard "Slime Creatures" as "Giant peaches," possibly my ear's homage to James and the Giant Peach.
