Well, I've already started my own group for grammar awareness, but with the unfortunate name of the Campaign for Rallying Against Bad Grammar Under Thefreakyblueman's Seeing, or CRABGUTS, not many people joined. Under this light, I have decided to join your group.

It's perfectly fine to end sentences with prepositions.

A: None of those articles provided evidence that it is grammatically correct to end a sentence with a preposition, but rather that it sometimes sounds better if you do so.

B: I think Lunar Jesters' point was that the Sparkling man randomly capitalized words in his sentences, e.g. "This is A Sample sentence."

So that's...21. Wow. I'm Surprised.

So..Spread awareness!
If someone can create a cooler banner, I'd be party to that. We could vote on it. It would need to not say "PM me to sign up!" now that we have a thread.

[EDIT: Added Krissy]

This is one of those "Gooder Grammer" lists.

Excuse my almost global ignorance, but what the heck does "[sic]" mean?

I guess I'm not with the program.

Author:  PizzaTrophy [ Mon Feb 07, 2005 2:50 am ]
Post subject:

[sic] = an unmodified spelling mistake in a document. The term is placed after the infringement. Used a lot in newspapers when copying a document or transcript directly.

Eg:

My dog lieks [sic] pancakes.

Ah, yes, bad grammar. I'm constantly checking for it everywhere I go. The process has become pretty much involuntary by now.

It's not just for spelling errors. It can be used for other mistakes as well.

"Sic" is a Latin word meaning "so, like, thus". Including [sic] in text does mean that "what has just been written is intentionally writen [sic] like that", according to my Latin textbook, meaning that the original writer intentionally or accidentally wrote it that way.
That said, sign me up! I'm All About Grammar. Or AAG. I'm also All About Acronyms, or Triple A.

First of all, Sentences wasn't supposed to be capitalized. Second of all, up is just an adverb in this sentence, not a prep. It is true, though, that sentences shouldn't end with prepositions.

Sign me up, I guess.
