How many musical instruments did you play before you dedcided on one?
For me: 2. I learned some simple piano songs when I was 10-12, and that was fun for a bit, then for some reason unbeknownst (sp?) to me, I tried to learn viola. That didn't work because I lacked the talent and/or perseverance to do it. Well I had always known I loved drums. Even from playing with them just a tiny bit, I was hooked. Only problem was money, but once I got a job, I bought a $320 ludwig accent kit and a Zildjian ZBT pro pack that cost $200. It set me back, but it was worth it, and my parents are awsome and they let me practice in the house.
Anyway, it's a great instrument (even if it is a little loud) and you can elaborate quite a bit, plus it's a good exercise

Started out with a Yamaha PS-730 like, a long time ago. Then I bought a Casio, don't remember what model. Then I got a Yamaha YS-100 FM Synth (I loved that thing), which I linked with a Roland U-220 and a Roland D-110. Now I mostly use a Casio CTK-571 linked to Fruity Loops 3.40 and FL Studio 5.01 with a crapload of VSTi plugins. The CTK's actually a pretty lame keyboard, but I got it cheap, and all I need it for is to function as a controller, anyway.

I took a year of private lessons when I was in the military, and I took a year of piano in college. But I didn't keep up with it, and so I can only do melody-chords type playing.

Hm. I never actually gave up on an instrument...I've played piano for eight or nine years, in 6th grade I picked up the clarinet, and just recently I started playing the oboe. It's pretty cool to be able to play three instruments, but it's kind of a pain to have three lessons a week. Heh...and to create even more irony...I'm thinking of taking up the saxophone. That's how out of my mind I am...

I started out with piano 10 years ago, and never quit. Although, I did try a brief stint in 2003 of violin and trumpet, but that...uh...never worked out. So piano is my instrument of choice!

Dabbled: Trumpet, trombone, violin, guitar, bass guitar
Played: Tenor sax, cello
Mastered: Alto sax, piano/keyboard, drum set
If it were up to me I'd sitll have all the instruments I've played. Instead, I have just a few. Never really "decided" on one; if anything, it's a quest of mine to be able to play all the orchestral instruments well plus some other ones on the side and different styles, such as jazz bass. The three I have no chance at learning quickly (like, if you know one stringed instrument you konw them all- after playing cello a year, the violin took minutes to learn; trumpet is somewhat similar to tuba, etc.) are oboe, flute, and french horn. Never played anything like those. Barring the oboe I made with straws taped toger with finger holes. That worked pretty well really. Most known as a drummer, having just gotten back from performing the drums at church today.

I play piano and alto saxophone. I tried my friend's tenor, it was too hard because it requires craploads o' air.

I used to play tenor sax and it was a lot of fun. But I stopped taking music classes, and I probably can't play anymore because of Death Sticks.... Please don't hate me.

I play guitar: Electric and Accoustic. I've been playing both for two years, but I'm not actually that bad. I can play a bunch of songs, from AC/DC to ZZ Top. I began teaching myself, but now I've got a teacher. My accoustic is a really old Takamine that my mom used in college, and my electric is a Fender Telecaster.

I play bass, of which I have two. One is a cheap, crappy, and small one I got for about $130. My other one was about $1000. Quite a step up. Here's a pic of it:

I also play guitar, I have an old K guitar (A lot like the one George Harrison used, I believe). Can't find a pic of one, but it was real nice and very old. Along with that I play harmonica and sing vocals both in a band and solo.

Yes, I know I'm awesome, you don't need to remind me.

I play a Vantage bass. I like it, its pretty old but built great. Heres a picture of my band playing a sold out show to the masses.

I'm on the left with the bass (obviously).

That's a pretty nice bass. Does it get good sound quality? It looks like it only has one pickup and only a couple knobs, but it works then that's fine with me!

Yeah I like it, but I've got it hooked up to a 250 watt bass amp, so I can't complain. Its very well built, solid rosewood, and I've kept it in the best shape I can.

I started playing the piano when I was 15. I'm 18 now and my piano playing only got better when I took formal classes. Instruments 1 class in HS didn't help much.

You think you're bad!? My school music teacher plays the Tuba and still smokes, how he does it I still don't know. I encourage you to pick that sax back up.

I had (er, I still have it, but I never play it) a keyboard that I used to tinker around on before I got bored and asked for a guitar. I'm thinking about learning drums. So... one, or possibly two.

I used to play violin when I was a kid, but I eventually wasn't enjoying what I was playing anymore, so I sold my violin & bought a Yamaha F-36P acoustic guitar. I also have a Casio SA-39, a Realistic Concertmate 500-1 (Casio SK-1) clone & a software synth.

Last week I got an old Washburn amp; today I got a Dean Markley pickup.
