2 nights ago my town received a heavy snowfall warning. Shocked, I kind of brushed it off and thought nothing of it. Snow in April? c'mon. So I wake up yesterday morning, April 12th, to see that a little over 3cm's of snow had fallen. The whole town was white. Anywhere else in the world experiencing uncommon weather for your area ?

Same here... The weather is, ugh, predictable. Something is definately up. The weather here never acts normal!

Well, now that you mention it, precip was moving east to west on the radar. That is kinda strange, so, ummm, I guess things are normal here. LOL

Oh, nice to have a meteorologist on the forum!!

Where I live, we have 2 seasons, wet and dry (tropical climate). Wet season goes from early October to late March and Dry season for the remaining months. We had a pretty dry wet season, storms only coming in dribs and drabs (but being threatened by a cyclone helped a little).

So it's getting into mid-April now, beginning of the Dry season, but for the last few days it's been acting like the wet season. A storm every afternoon at about 5.00, like clockwork. It's nice to see a bit of rain and all, but it should have happened a few months ago!

During the spring, we get huge, warm, humid periods, waiting until it rains. Then we get a month's worth of rain.

We're pretty freakishly warm here in Minnesota. It was like 75 the other day, and it usually doesn't get like that until a month or so from now.

Yeah, something like that. I'm startin' the Atmospheric Science MS program at University of Alabama at Huntsville this fall. So, yeah, I'm a meteorologist of sorts. :bubs:

Ok, I gotta go. Upright Citizen's Brigade is on.. I've never seen it before, but the first 4 minutes I've seen are absolutely hillarious. "Crane Wars", I love it!!

We didn't get snow this winter in Nashville. In fact, I think it got somewhere in the low 70's sometime in February.

Low 70's in Feb? I wish we had that. It was freeing here this past winter.

Texas is known for its weird temperatures at weird times.

It once snowed on Valentine's Day. (Not freaky, but still)

It's snowed 4 times this week, and about 2 inches each time. But I live in Rexburg, where it usually snows on the Fourth of July.

Today, it's supposed to be in the lower to mid 80's, with severe storms poppin' off left and right. Tomorrow night, rain and snow... Cold fronts are fun!!

Seriously, though, if you live in anywhere in the US that can get strong storms (pretty much anywhere in the US) get yourself a NOAA weather alert radio (with SAME encoding, if possible). Not only will you have access to local weather forecasts 24/7, you'll also get possibly life-saving weather alerts and emergency broadcast system alerts. You can get a decent one for $20 or so. That's a pretty small price to pay for just for being able to recieve 24/7 forecasts, much less something that can save your life. Weather radios are teh cool.

That's crazy, JumbleCaper! Hopefully the snow doesn't move west... because I don't want it!
Are you in Halifax? I forget if you mentioned. Because I learned in my Canadian Environmental Biology class that Halifax dumps its raw sewage into the ocean. Ew! :p

Nope, I'm about 3 hours away from Halifax.. Yeah and that would Halifax Harbour. Gotta be the sickest thing I've ever seen.

I do live by the ocean though.

Nova Scotia is divided into two parts.. the mainland and Cape Breton Island as you can see in the map..
Theres one large bridge that connects Cape Breton with the mainland. I live right by there (5 minutes appx).
