Wow, you liked both opening bands? I don't think that's ever happened in any of the shows I've ever went to.
Hmm, thinking back on the shows I've been too, it seems to be the case that openers can be somewhat hit-or-miss. I'll admit, Corn Mo's performance was a little abrasive (I just checked out the "Busey Boy" MP3 on his site, and it's a bit more polished and adds a welcome piano to the equation), but at the same time it was really entertaining. Like I said, he has a really powerful voice (though it's not very "pretty", as such) and he's funny on stage. Though I can't say for sure, I think that if I owned one of his CDs, it would be more of a once-in-awhile listen.
I was just wandering around his site and found
this. Kinda funny. He was running his own merch booth (he signed my ticket "Keep the magic alive! Love, Corn Mo"), so I guess the guy doesn't really have a crew. During his set, actually, he complained that his accordion was broken (and demonstrated with some narsty buzzing noises), and TMBG's stage manager came out with one of John Linnell's accordians (a very attractive red one), but he refused, remarking that even though his was broken, it was his baby.
By the way, Adam Busch of Common Rotation has apparently made
several appearances on that Buffy show. I liked him a lot on stage, he has lots of personality, but I've never seen him on Buffy, since, well, I've never seen Buffy.
