Nothing wrong with loving Japanese rock. I adore Les Rallizes Denudes, Acid Mothers Temple, Merzbow and The Boredoms, and I have every intention of getting more Japanese stuff when I've got the time and money (or when I've bought every record made between 1965 and 1979 in Germany anyway)

My guilty pleasures, I suppose, would be various pop songs, including:

Phil Collins: has a handful of songs that I like, although I picked up his first three albums as a cheap box set and there's barely enough good stuff between them for a side of vinyl

Keane: "Somewhere Only We Know" is all I like by these. It's MOR fluff really, but the jang-jang-jang piano lines and world-weary vocal delivery sells me every time

Avril Levigne: As much as I hate to admit it, I loved "I'm With You" and "Losing My Grip". "Complicated" has good choruses but wretched verses, and "Sk8er Boi" should've had the master tapes wiped before ever making it to the pressing plant

Linkin Park: I like "Points Of Authority" and a couple others, but cannot help but be conscious of the artificial angst which props them up

There's plenty others, but I could take days writing them all down I'm sure

I wasn't insulting or anything, just joking with you. It's not like I meant harm, but I'm sorry if I did.

Oh, man... Guilty pleasures...

Well, let's see... There's The Lord of the Rings. I've been mega-obsessed with it ever since I saw the first movie oddsome years ago. Since then, I've bought all three theatrical editions, all three extended editions, the soundtracks, piano music, GameCube/Playstation games, all three books, as well as The Silmarillion, The Hobbit, and a few more obscure ones, and countless other memorabilia. I'm a geek, and I'm not ashamed to admit it! Although, I guess then LotR wouldn't constitute as a guilty pleasure, so my shame remains.

What else... Oh, how could I forget, big, dumb summer (or otherwise) "blockbusters", as in movies. To name a few... Armaggedon, Wild Wild West, and Titanic. There are many more, but my brain's drawing a blank right now.

The movie thing also applies to comedies. I'll watch anything, as long as it's not a mindless teen flick (American Pie... *shudder*). Adam Sandler, anyone? Or, how 'bout Jim Carrey? Anything with Ben Stiller, Will Ferrell, Vince Vaughn, and Jack Black also applies. It seems like they're always in each others movies doing very similar things that they did in their last movie, and, yet, I find it hysterical each time.

I've been wanting to bring this topic back for awhile, so... extreme necromancy'd!!

My latest guilty pleasure: Morning Musume. Now, I'm not ordinarily a Japanophile (nor a fan of pop, J- or otherwise), but for some reason I'm totally mesmerized by this uber-kawaii supergroup. For your consideration:Seriously. Watch them a few times, I swear you'll get sucked in. A friend of mine dug up an English translation of the first one and it's pretty hilarious. Not to mention the entire video takes place in the men's room. Glowing urinals!

Edit: Also, in the same vein, Cute Overload. I hit this site a couple times a week and never regret it (my last avatar, the one of the alarmingly adorable cat, came from there). Awwwwwwww!

"Rugrats Scavenger Hunt" is my biggest guilty pleasure. It's an old N64 game that sometimes I cannot seriously believe I own... but I enjoy it nontheless. I don't know WHY I find it so entertaining, but I do! The babies say a bunch of different things when they do stuff, and I quote their little sayings all the flipping time.

"Secret sausage-ways!" (In the CyTeen lexicon, "sausage way" means "any secret path or path off the beaten way.")
"Please--be something--SWEET!"
"Wheeee! That was almost FUN!"
"Chocolate milk! It does a baby good!"
"Aww--I gots one already!"
"The most prettiful win."
"Hey hey! A baby's got nooo problems here!"

I'm an embarassment, aren't I?

Drawing torture and torture devices. o_o And drawing some other things I prolly shouldn't mention, lest I get in huge trouble with the fuzz, being underaged and all. D: Be grateful I'm too shy/somewhat-obediant-of-the-law to show off any of these things. xD
(Though I'm signifigantly less shy with just plain 'ole blood 'n gore.)

I also write about 'em. And read/look at 'em... mehhhh. >_>

Guilty pleasures... I am sure to have one or two... um...
I love reading picture books. We have a huge bookcase of them at my home, and I sometimes get a huge pile of them, like I mean HUGE, and read them all over a period of three days.
I suppose that isn't really a guilty pleasure.

You're well on the path to being the next HR Giger. Well done my son

I might as well drop in other guilty pleasures of mine whilst I'm here:

- "You're The Voice" by John Farnham
This song defines 80s cheese. Big stadium production, synthesised handclaps, boxy sounding drums, a vague socially conscious message, lots of impassioned wailing. Bizarrely features a bagpipes solo despite John Farnham being Australian. I can't even pretend I like it ironically, I genuinely love it, and where I could come to terms with loving Breathe's also-cheesy "Hands To Heaven", I can't help but be embarrassed by this song

- stuffed animals
Yes, I'm a 22-year-old male and I still have a bunch of stuffed animals around my room. So what? You're not my father. You don't own me. Quit hassling me man

Pooh Bear pwns. That's hardly a guilty pleasure. Most wise men and world leaders enjoy watching Tigger's adventures.
As for HighSchool Musical. ARGLBLBLBLBLBLBLBLBL.

FYI, Morning Musume is a musical group, not a TV show. But they are frequent guests on Japanese variety shows, ergo the above. Which brings us to:

Morning Musume vs. Lizard, or what I like to call the steak helmet video.

Ah. Yes. Here is one. My weakness. Girly movies. I will not call them chick-flicks, that is lame. But I love all of them. Even the really really bad ones.
*Prepares to be hit*

Although I suppose it makes sense, seeing as I am a girl.

Reminds me of a discussion me and a friend had once... he really wanted to go see some girly movie, but he quite obviously did not want to go alone seeing as he'd be laughed out of the theater. So we devised a scheme: I'd go with him and he'd claim to have lost a bet to me. Of course, I would've only gone for his sake, because to me, the movie looked repulsive. Can't remember what it was, though.

We never did see it, which is proably why he can't remember. In his version of events, his side of the bet had been something superhero. I'd have much prefered that, really...

Yes! Very yes! I love alll these things, though I have a knack for creating these really oddly un-Mary Sure Mary Sues. Like, they'll be your fairly typical spawns, semi-rebellious, too smart for their age--but then they'll have a physical disability, and they'll be neither universally liked or disliked, and they don't actually fall for any canon characters--and I'm not sure what to call them. XD
