I just saw it, I have to say im pretty impressed. It really "feels" like the book (even though I dident finish the whole seris...to hard to follow) the moive was Hillarious, and had a strange abstract view on the universe. What do all ya'lls think about it? |

I have the opening song stuck in my head right now. I thought all the characters were excellently portrayed, especially Marvin and Zaphod. (Alan Rickman was BORN to be Marvin.) The plot moved a little too quickly I think; I might not have been able to keep up if I wasn't familiar with the story already. I also think there were a few jokes that were cut that could have been left in, like the Guide entry for Earth. The new plotlines were somewhat interesting(except for the rather forced romantic tension), and I really liked the scenes on Vogsphere. All in all, a very enjoyable movie. |

I haven't seen the movie, and I haven't read the books. So what should I do? Read the books, and then go see the movie, or see the movie and then go see the movie?? I really want to see the movie either way, though. |

The original entry was: "Harmless". Ford wrote heaps and heaps during his stay on Earth, but it ended up being cut down to "Mostly harmless". But then in the fourth book they decided to put his full entry in after Earth mysteriously reappeared. This is what prompts him to go back to Earth and see what was going on. Then in the fifth book, they apparently cut it back to "Mostly harmless" again. |

favorite parts: 1: Crab being squashed by spaceship door 2. When the mice say "now...to buisness.." then zaphod raises his glass and is like "TO BUSNESS!" 3. The whole, lemon powered hat incident |

Was I the only one who was disappointed? I mean, new ending, new side plots, new American ignorance to British humor.. it just didn't add up. Seeing it while knowing the real story: C+ Seeing it point blank: B+ |

Was I the only one who noticed the Marvin from the BBC series in the background when they are getting the forms? |

I even noticed him in the first establishing shot, even before the part where they showed him up close. BTW, I prefer the new Marvin. |

Yeah, I didn't like it that much. I'm pretty sure that is NOT what Adams meant by "two heads". And the gun plot was just stalling. I like the BBC series Marvin better. Marvin is way too big in the new movie. |

Whoa. I sorta thought it was good. But they left out the importance of the towel! How could they? P.S.: I wish I could see the BBC series! |

I just finished reading the first book. It was awesome! My mom says she might be able to take to the movie sometime this week, but I probably shouldn't get my hopes up. |

I'm not sure if he was the one who got to "okay" the designs or not (in fact, I'm sure he wasn't), but I just thought I'd throw that it. ~Kupo~ wrote: But they left out the importance of the towel!
Actually, I seem to remember Ford carrying a towel around and running it in front of enemies quite often ("Oh no! The gate is closed- we'll have to go around!") Oh, and yes, I loved the movie. |

First timers might just think he has some weird obsession with them. |

TFBM, you're not the only one. They got rid of all the good jokes and such, I was really mad. They even took out the freakin' leopard dialouge! They screwed up real bad trying to mush all 5 books into 1. Douglas Adams is spinning in his grave so fast it could be used as a source of energy. |

I've only read the first three, but this seemed well open ended for a sequel. Probably taking the path of the radio version and the BBC version, leaves off at "What is six times nine?" It's too bad they PGerized it so much. And they took out some of the best lines from the Improbibility Drive. |

Loved it. I just saw it yesterday. I thought it (thankfully) stayed relatively true to the book's spirit (that was the one thing I was most worried the director would screw up) and ended up being wildly hysterical. At the same time, it offered something new to book fans with the little additions and alterations penned by Adams himself before his death. I really loved Zaphod and Ford, the actors who played those two were perfect for the roles. Also, Alan Rickman's voice was the perfect choice for Marvin. I wasn't too crazy about the added romance between Arthur and Trillian. I liked it better in the books where everyone was portrayed more or less as a group of friends, for lack of a better word. It left more room for comedy whereas I felt that the one-on-one moments in the movie between Arthur and Trillian almost made the story drag. Besides that, however, I really enjoyed this movie, and I hope that they will consider making the sequel! |

I'm still not sold on the movie. I don't dislike it, but I don't especially like it, either. I think a second viewing may be in order, but that will have to wait until it's out on DVD. Or maybe after the poutine incident. I will say this, though: The casting was flawless. Flawless. Being a small-town midwestern white kid I always pictured Ford as a white guy when reading the books, but Mos Def was spot-on. Martin Freeman is great, of course, and nobody but Alan Rickman could have done the voice of Marvin. And finally, Zooey Deschanel. As if I didn't have enough of a crush on her already. Oh Zooey, I pine for you. |

I absolutely loved every second of the movie!! I want to go read the books!! I had somewhat low expectations for the movie, since movies are generally much worse than books.. but this time, they really came through and delivered a high quality, excellent flick. The casting WAS wonderful.. I'm always excited to see Mos Def doing his thing on the big screen.. he's just a cute, energetic and fun guy to watch. |
