For me, my two favorite ones are Destination Moon and A Self Called Nowhere. I don't know why I like those best, it just happened. It might be because they're so sing-alongable (well, I say it's a word!) and have such great music. hmmmm.... I would guess Experimental film, but since you changed your sn you obviously don't like it any more and instead like Thunderbird (so future viewers don't get confused it was 1936 day when it was posted and TEF's sn was General Trial Projection) I like Experimental Film, Why does the Sun Shine?, Four of Two, and Doctor worm in that order except for the equal first two. |

This is a really tough question. So many choices. Destination Moon is definitely a great one. The song that first got me into TMBG, and which I'll always have a soft spot for, is S-E-X-X-Y. The End of the Tour is probably the one that gets stuck in my head most often. And here are my other favorites, by album: They Might Be Giants - She's an Angel (hon. mention for Number Three) Lincoln - Ana Ng (hon. mention Kiss Me, Son of God) Miscellaneous T - Nightgown of the Sullen Moon (hon. mention It's Not My Birthday, Don't Let's Start) Apollo 18 - I Palindrome I Factory Showroom - Till My Head Falls Off (hon. New York City, James K. Polk) Flood - Birdhouse in Your Soul (hon. Istanbul, Women and Men) John Henry - The End of the Tour (hon. Destination Moon, I Should Be Allowed to Think) Severe Tire Damage - First Kiss (hon. Why Does the Sun Shine? - I have the EP, but I figure I can mention it here) Mink Car - Another First Kiss (hon. Bangs, Mr. Xcitement, Yeh Yeh) The Spine - Damn Good Times (hon. Experimental Film, Stalk of Wheat, and the third verse of Wearing a Raincoat) They Got Lost - Disappointing Show (funniest TMBG song ever) No! - Robot Parade or Clap Your Hands (both are great live) Here Come the ABCs! - I don't own this one (yet), but Alphabet of Nations with the extended live bridge is fantastic. |

Okay, take everything IJ said, but switch the favourite on "No!" to the "Bobobo" song. (The CD is in the car, okay? I forget what it's called.) "Damn Good Times" really is a great song. I love the "natural dancer" girl. 
And don't forget "Bed Bed Bed", the kids' book they put out a couple of Christmases ago. It's got great artwork by the same artist who did the cover art for the Weakerthans' "Reconstruction Site", and comes with a CD which has 4 great songs on it, one of which ("Bed Bed Bed") is on "No!" But I think my favourite song on there is "Idylwild". It's a really sweet lullaby-type song. Or maybe "Impossible" - I'd love to be an Octofish. |

I've seen them at Navy Pier, like, three times. And at the Taste last summer... and at those other places those other times. But this is not about me. I'm sure Jones have seen them more, getting a head start of the "being born way before me" variety. I'd have to say my favorite song is "I Palendrome I", closely followed by "I Should Be Allowed to Think" (written on the back of my Science notebook) and "James K. Polk" (written on the back of my Social Studies notebook for a completly different reason). Then "Au Contraire." Then "Snail Shell," which I am totally covering when I am big and famous. And let's not forget 'C is for Connifer", or whatever it's called. Then all those other songs. I'm all done being random now. |

That's really funny -- a couple weeks ago I was going through a bunch of my stuff from high school (my mom is selling our old house, so I had to clean everything out of my old room), and I found a folder (I can't recall which subject) upon which I had scrawled the lyrics to that very song (and many others). I remember that! I didn't even know who they were then! And now I do! And I'm able to appreciate how awesome Tiny Toons was/kind of still is! I think they (MBG) tacked those on the end of some tape they did... I think it had videos on it  . But you're not wrong! And go buy yourself an album right now!

There are many schools of thought on this. A lot of people will say Flood is the best place to start, not least because it was their biggest (financial) success. If you're more into rock, I recommend Mink Car. It has many of TMBG's most rockingest songs. I personally got started with Factory Showroom and despite what others say I think it's a very solid album, even for neophytes. If you want a big sampling of some of TMBG's best work (and have a few extra bucks to spend), then go for the Dial-a-Song set. |

Dial A Song is on sale on eBay for $15. I was looking through the music on it and realized I've heard another song by TMBG. "The sun is a mass of incandescent gas A gigantic nuclear furnace Where Hydrogen is built into Helium At a temperature of millions of degrees!" I think I'll buy it. |

"James K Polk" is definitely one of my favourites. He's the only US President I know anything about! That's super cool, Puhples. Also, "We Want a Rock" (from "Flood") is a wonderful song. The prosthetic foreheads get me every time. |

Hey, has anyone seen Gigantic, the documentary/video collection-type-thing? I borrowed it from a friend but he wanted it back before I got past the videos and special stuff. No time to watch the actual documentary for me! But what I saw was pretty cool. Especially since TMBG videos never get played on Much Music. |

I own it. (Cue feigned surprise.) It's really fantastic, especially for a trivia junkie like me. The commentary track is definitely worth listening to, though it's a bit of a challenging listening to a commentary track over a documentary which is almost all talking. Also, the "Crying Girl" is hilarious, in a sad kind of way. You just want to give her a hug. DVD Talk has a good review of the DVD if you're thinking of buying it. If you're more interested in their music videos, check out Direct From Brooklyn, which I don't own and haven't seen (yet) but have just added to my wishlist. |
