I did that when I was 18 and we went to Quebec. It was fun. Would you go to Niagara, then? It'd be prooty expensive to stay in a hotel there. |

Or you went to the indian reservation and bought illigal stuff, and then gambled all day? I thought you guys knew better than that. Sorry to snap at you, just had to let it out. But it's not their job to please you, Utard. There are worse things than drinking and gambling. They are the least of your worries. Remember, things you consider to be shocking may not faze anyone else. LEGAL DISCLAIMER: The HRWiki Forum does not condone the consumption of any beverage, alcoholic or otherwise. |

It's just a tad bit depressing. Why Utard? Legal consumption (ie, those of legal age - the drinking age in Canada is several years lower than the US's) of legal substances is just that - legal! And they didn't say that they went gambling or smoking up. And I'm sure they acted responsibly. PS - I've been to a casino (in Mississippi). I lost 20 bucks playing Black Jack (I set myself a personal limit so I wouldn't lose a whole bunch of money), but I had a great time! [Note: The HRWiki Forum does not condone breaking the law, namely underage drinking, gambling, crap-shooting.....Farg.] EDIT: Toastpaint. Canada rocks!!!!!!! |

I agree wholeheartedly, SC. Guess what, guys? I'm a grown-up. That means I can legally have a couple drinks every so often if I choose to. And I don't do drugs, not simply because they're illegal, but because I choose not to. I can gamble if I want to, because I'm a shocking 7 years older than I have to be in order to do it legally. Just because some of you may not agree with the (perfectly legal) things I sometimes do in my spare time, that doesn't mean you can come down on me for it. I'm not trying to get anyone to jump on any sort of bandwagon, so chill out. |

I've lived in the US for 6 years, and I still don't know freakin' inches, yards, miles, ounces, lbs., Metric rules. It's just a base-10 system. So easy, even your little baby sister can do it with ease! |

I can't believe how stupid US people are for keeping their customary units.

You people are just too lazy to do convert relatively simple stuff. Kids Have Dropped Dead ----(over) Converting Metrics. Have any kids dropped dead converting our stuff, no. Converting Customary to Metric is a different story. |

Blame the Stonecutters, they keep the metric system down ("We dooo, we dooo") Seriously though, metric system rocks. 100cm to the metre, 1000kg to the tonne. Also, do Canadians and Canadiennes spell it as 'centre' (like me) or 'center' (like the US-ians?) |

It's too bad I was raised on that freakin' US custom system of measurements. Now it's too late to switch to metric, because now it confuzzles me. Pity me. |

ok, i'am a canadian (québéquois) and i can tell you: there is NOTHING of complicated in the metric system: it's based on a 10 unit system: there is the "prefixe" behind the unit of mesure, so: 0,001mm = 0,01cm = 0,1dm = 1m = 10dcm = 100hm = 1000km these are the meters, notice than the number between dm and dcm have no "prefixe" behind him, this number is the base number you know; just like bytes 1kb = 1000bytes it works also for surface (2D): meters² (m²) or for volume (3D): liters(l)/meters³ (m³) and for many oters things |

Gah! Yet another Canadian! Are you, perhaps, a Canadienne? I kid.
Well, the metric system may seem simple to you, but when teachers drive an annoying measurement system into your head, it becomes difficult to get accoustomed to something else. I wish I had been taught metric, since ALL THE OTHER COUNTRIES use it. |

I've been able to get some things into my head regarding the imperial system, like a yard is about the same as a metre, there are 2.2lbs/kg, and about 2.5cm/in. But miles vs. kilometres? Forget it. I have no idea. My mom has a hard time with metric, as she was taught imperial growing up, but my dad has a good handle on both systems. I don't know how tall I am in cm, and I don't know how much I weigh in kg. Some things are still lost on me, like I have no idea how big a hectare is. But I never really paid attention to area. Oh, and Pizza Trophy, the spelling depends on how you were raised. I usually use the -er spelling, since that's how they spelled it in school when I was little. I think that now they're spelling it -re, though. Both spellings are considered correct. |

The US has had it's fair share of run-ins with the metric & American Standard systems. Take one of our Mars Landers. NASA did the calculations in feet but programmed the lander in meters. Lets just say the it landed, in a million piece. $170 Million USD scattered over the Martian surface. |

Nobody knows what a hectare is. Don't feel left out. Personally, I don't mind the Imperial system. When you're raised on it, you get used to it. What does bother me is people who are convinced that using the imperial system means that Americans are dumb. We do have our share of stupid people, but it's not because we use pounds and inches and Fahrenheit. |
