Do you love anime? Do you hate it when a good anime/manga is ruined by American consumers? One Piece is a perfectly good example of a good manga gone bad. People like Fox and WB ruin any good animes in the dreaded "Americanization" process. See this for some clarification on what they do. (Mild language warning on that)

Bottom Line: I hate Americanization; it ruins all good japaneese animation. Post here if you hate it as well.

I'm not saying Pokemon is cool, but there were 3 episodes that were never released in the U.S. :(

Darn Americanization.

Edit: This is a reply to NT.

That's part of the reason I hate it. People get all chopped up and crushed, but then they get up with only a black mark on their face! What's the deal with that?!

They completely ruined Rave Master on the TV show. No blood, The alchohaulic drinks soda, and they just change a lot of stuff.

That's the problem. They change too much. They worry too much about making it kid-friendly. Bah. That's why my savior is Adult Swim. They keep it the same. None o' that "no-blood" crap.

Ugh, sign me up. Can this be against Anime knockoffs, too? You know, those stupid American-made shows that like to pretend that they're anime...like Teen Titans and *gag* Totally Spies? *vomit*.

My response to AceKirby: I have kind of a love/hate relationsip with Adult Swim. Yes, they play un-Americanized animes, but they're also responsible for making things WAAAAY too commercial. Just look what they did to Inu-Yasha. And now I'm afraid Full Metal Alchemist is heading down the same path to the Dark Side and Hot Topic shelves...

I prefer my anime on DVDs: Unedited, Japanese, subtitled. Manga works too.

This is the third time I've been shown that XD

I was at this panel discussion yesterday about "Why anime is so cool?" and everyone was raving and such at the mere mention of 4Kids. UGH. Poor One Piece.

One girl: We heard rumors that Naruto's name is going to be Nathan....

I didn't hear that but I did hear from Toonami that they would keep the names of the characters and moves the same (IE: they arn't going to change "Kage Bushin no Jitsu" to "Shadow Clone power" ) but they are going to edit out all the blood, swearing and sake.

Yes, yes. Anime should be pure and simple. Naruto's going to have this done to it. There is no worse thing to happen to an anime/manga then it being transformed into American stuff. I freakin' hate that cursed 4Kids thing. It ruins the greatest of them all.

All the anime I buy, I watch it in the original Japanese with the subtitles, Hey I want to know what the heck they are saying.

I was going to say that. And it's actually 700+ people from the ages of 3-56 :P

It's actually three other episodes that were never released; there was one for excessive gun use (safari zone episode; you wonder why we never see Ash catch the herd of Toros?) and another because of some like, naked scenes or something of which I have a clip of but can't describe it here (I think they actually released this as some kind of lost episode, but totally editted it). The third one was this Christmas special that wasn't even released in Japan because Pokemon was off air for some months after the Porygon episode catastrophe (the one that gave people seizures)
*is such an anime nerd* >_>

So anyway, what are we planning to do in this so-called group? I'd love to go and plan the assasination of Norman J. Grossfield (presdient of 4Kids) :P

Yeah, I'm joking....

Hey, 4Kids may make anime lame, but at least we get to see it. You guys probably wouldn't even know what anime was if it wasn't for crappy American dubs to introduce you to it. And let's face it, some anime is just bad, with or without crappy localization. *coughdbzcough*

Best horrible dub ever: that one episode of Yu-Gi-Oh where Yugi is going to get cut be blades and they changed it "dark energy disks".

Yeah, yeah. Or you could just read the manga, which almost always turns out better than the anime.

And what's not cool about giving the seizures?

;)

Really I have no input here. I hate anime. But I just couldn't resist that.

That's FUNimation! They sucks too, but not as badly.

But only cause they translated Fruits Basket almost perfectly and are releasing the uber uncut DVDs of DBZ right now. Talk about compensation.

Funi is also the one releasing the uncut Yu-Gi-Oh DVDs. Woojoo!

I guess I'm just trying to say, I am for Americanization because it spreads anime to a wider audience. And badly dubbed anime is better than no anime.

Eh, true that. Never would have known about DBZ without seeing it on Toonami ^^;; Dubbed anime is good for people who don't want to get in trouble for downloading illegal stuff. Or have the money to buy DVDs.

But we just want more progress as far as getting the right shows being targeted to the right demographic in the U.S. As well as some loosening on those ole cenorship laws ;)
