Nintendork wrote: But when they're dubbed they're meant for wee ones, so kids in America can see the television shows they watch in Japan, editing them to meet America's television guidelines. I'm glad they do this so younger kids can grow up with anime (like I did with Pokemon).
You also gotta realize that American kids are some of the most censored in the world, and stuff that's taim for them is ultra racy for us 'cross the pond. |

The one thing about dubbing is that the voice actors aren't mean horrible people. I've met a couple before. The guy who does Ed on Full Metal Alchemist, I found out he also did Brolly on DBZ, and well, then I remembered this one guy on AIM who was sending people a subbed version of the Brolly movie so they wouldn't but the English one. Ho-hum *sigh* Ed's voice actor is really an FMA fan, and is so nice too ;_; The same goes for Veronica Taylor, voice of Ash Ketchum (from Pokemon, in case you didn't know ). I should probably hate with all my might, anybody who affiliates with 4Kids, but she's a really nice person. People like her and Wayne Grayson (voice of Joey Wheeler on Yu-Gi-Oh), just don't realize how much people hate the company...or they do and just ignore it. I'd really like to know what their opinion would be.

Cept Pioneer did Tenchi. Which was originally on Toonami >_< I love Toonami, but Tenchi is like....a...hentai anime. One of those "infamously horribly dubbed" ones. And Nintendork, if you're not against the Americanization, then why are you posting here? -_- I'd also like to point out that 4Kids has no business dubbing animes like Yu-Gi-Oh and One Piece in the first place. Why? Because they are NOT made for kids. You could say the same about any anime, as they are made for the Japanese child demographic, differing greatly from that of the American one, but favorites like that specifically. I hate knowing that kids think the characters in One Piece eat candy canes, as opposed to smoking cigars. And worst of all, is always gonna be Dragonball. The WHOLE series. I don't care what FUNimation was thinking , I don't care that I would have never seen it initially, had it not been on Toonami, and I don't care that they're now releasing "unedited" versions; the dubbing of Dragonball, Dragonball Z, and Dragonball GT will never be justified, no matter what. It was a popular anime in Japan because it was violent, plot-filled, pornographic, and exciting. Not for being a show for five-year-olds. Screw the FCC, DBZ was never meant to be on air, and did not deserved to have all that profit milked out of it in a manner that disgraced the original. The editting, the loss of original score, and the inability to realize a show is not for the American child demographic will always lead me to one conclusion: dubbing anime is something that need to be taken with much more care than it has in the past, and the original version is always better. |

Please. =_= Both of you need a spanking. Hentai is a disgrace to Japaneese anime much less the Americanized anime that comes over here. It's just natsy.....and wrong! ANYWAYS, TOASTPAINT!! I'm against Americanization, it killed both 'Shaman King' and 'Naruto', two shows that I LOVED. Has anyone seen a japaneese version of 'Naruto' and can help me bad mouth the American version? |

Ah, I wish I could. I read the manga, though, which is pretty much always better than the anime, and is infinitely better than Americanized anime. |

Shonen Jump has been kind of turning into a sellout. They changed "Zoro" to "Zolo" in the One Piece manga, and the issues have been reasonably shorter since the April 2005 issue. Soon, it'll be "omg, 5 pages of magna!11!one!!!" I have seen some of the Japanese version of Naruto, and quite frankly, it's a hit in Japan for good reason |
