Happy 4th of July, unless you don't live in the USA. In that case, Happy Monday!

No. Wrong gear. We will be saying "Fourth of July is fun", not "I HATE WHAT THIS HOLIDAY REPRESENTS."

It's just tact.

"Fourth of July is fun! I don't hate what the holiday represents!"

Fourscore and seven years ago, our founding father put forth a new nation, and all that jazz.

Happy 229th, America!

But in that case you wouldn't be American.

Whoa, 11:58 PM... posting this in the nick of time. To all you Americans, happy Fourth of July!

I'll take that as a Happy Territory Day, for July 1st.
I live in the Northern Territory of Australia, and on the 1st July 1978, we became a self-governing territory, and stuck it to the Commonwealth government! (Not really, but that's what I like to think).

Its the only day when we are allowed to legally buy and set off fireworks.

What better way to celebrate our Territory than to blow the crap out of it!!!

Here in Lake Zurich we watch fireworks over our aptly named lake, Lake Zurich. Last year they sucked so bad that the company that does them gave us 50% more. While we were waiting, a power line blew sparks and burned someone we know. And then a firetruck came and blocked off the road so that the cars would all have go through an alley that goes through our town's downtown. All the people that were on the crosswalk in front of the alley had to move out of the way, but since I was on the corner next to the alley a lot of people got in the way of my view and couldn't see the finale.

Every fourth of July, my family makes sure that we have shrimp for dinner. A strange tradition, but one I enjoy. This year, however, my parents are in England and my sis in NJ...BUT I still had shrimp. In fact, I made beer battered shrimp, and still had enough for a shrimp cocktail. That's sweet, you may be saying. Even though our nation may be in the decline (which happens to everything once they hit the top), I still call it home. Happy 229 America, and Happy 230, Navy!

I went to this big fourth of july picnic. They had all kinds of cool stuff. My family had front row seats to see the fireworks. It was the brightest, coolest, and loudest fireworks display I ever saw. America rocks.

4th of July was great, but I hate the sounds of people setting off illegal fireworks in the middle of the night. Thankfully, I'll be leaving for Oklahoma City until Saturday.

We bought this big ol' "Family Pak" of fireworks, which were extremely awexome. Unfortunately, after two defective ones, the adults decided it was too risky and made us stop.

You haven't experienced life until you've watched one of those giant circular fireworks explode only about fifteen feet in the air.

How about an artillery shell (similar to the ones used in commercial firework shows, but considerably smaller) explode in the tube? in a small backyard? with everyone standing on the patio next to it? :)

That was very exciting. It sent a sphere of sparks outwards, nearly covering the backyard. Everyone dove for cover, behind chairs, people, people behind chairs... whatever you could find.

Luckily no one was hurt, but I sure did get a story out of it :)

Whoa. Awesome.

I went to two firework shows. One on the second (?), and one on the rightful day, the fourth. The one on the second was a lot longer, had plenty more fireworks, and even had narration.
Well. For the actual fourth, there was a party at my house, and my pastor and his family came. We had burgers, and then went swimming. And then, we went to a firework show. It was pretty fun.

I went to see Blue Oyster Cult at a free festival the local classic rock station was holding at Cooper River (Joan Jett was there too - but I left before she came on), and it was quite excellent. They did their three big songs ("Don't Fear The Reaper" - which, yes, did have enough cowbell - "Burnin' For You", "Godzilla"), but they also threw in a good bunch of energetic jamming and some other stuff I didn't expect (THREE songs from Tyranny And Mutation, "Buck's Boogie", "Shooting Shark"). I also got good seats near the front all the way on the right hand side of the stage, which wasn't bad.

I might have had more fun if the woman I went with (someone one of my close friends lived with for awhile) could actually have gotten a babysitter for her kids at all, but they acted up enough that we had to leave before the fireworks (we only caught glimpses of them on our way home), but oh well. Outside that and watching baseball like usual, that was about it for my 4th.

No, you haven't experienced life untill you've shot fireworks at each other. Now that was fun.

Ooh, and so is driving over a firework.
