I just got back from doing an open mic night at a bar on 4th and Girard in Philly and it was a trip. For those who don't know, it was my first time ever singing and playing acoustic in front of any kind of audience. Most of the musicians there were doing typical singer/songwriter stuff and taking it all seriously (though there were certainly a couple odd ones mixed in, including some guy singing incredibly manic political-type stuff), and here I was doing these quirky tossoff novelty songs that lasted around 30-90 seconds like "Chomping At Dennis", "Polar Bear Rock", "Xavier Stole My Wallet", etc.
From what a couple of my friends were telling me, it seemed like it fired part of the crowd up and apparently ticked off the other part, a sure sign that I may be on to something. The best thing, though, was that one of my friends actually recorded my performance (as well as his own), and I should be getting access to the MP3s
very soon. So you guys should actually be able to hear an Forum member go crazy in live acoustic mode. I'll write a lot more about this in my LiveJournal later on - it was quite a night.
EDIT: I've now created a separate profile on Myspacefor my music, which includes the first two songs I played last night on acoustic, plus two others I recorded last year.
