*shiver* When I was a little girl, my mom bought "The Hapless Child". It made me more depressed than any little girl should be. So, needless to say, I sort of resent him. I haven't read any of his books since.

Geez. Even now I can't think about it without getting a depressed feeling in my stomach. :-(

Ah, yes. Edward Gorey. My friend Alice* and I used to go to the library, just the two of us, and go in this one adult-book section that had some Edward Gorey books. We'd take them up to our special "nook" in the library (defaced the wall partially by writing very small in pen, "L + A*'s chat space") and read them. Jibblies ensued. Poor Alice*, though, I think it gave her ideas, because one time she came over to my house, sobbing, with a self-inflicted leg wound.

*Name and initial changed for privacy

Yeah, I kind of like his works. (You could tell I liked his style due to the fact that I chose a surreal and odd H*R character for my screenname.) Gotta love the fancy Grim Reaper on the cover.

Do you have the book "The World of Edward Gorey"? I've only skimmed through it a few times. Good stuff.

I have Edward Gorey's Amphigorey. I always loved "Gashlycrumb Tinies," because my name is in it.
