Hey guys. I thought you PSP owners might be interested in this.

Today version 2.0 of the PSP firmware was released in Japan. It includes a really nice web browser.

Believe it or not it works on US PSPs with no issues at all. The language settings stay set to English and all that jazz.

And here's a surprise, just cause I like you guys...

go to http://www.gamerfocus.com

I have a download of the update available right now. Tell me what you think of the update!

Behold! The web browser works well, but that thing is slow.

I was stupid enough to update to v1.5.1, I'm not gonna update this time. The way I see it, somebody's gonna eventually make a homebrew browser better than Sony's.
Oh, and you can play Doom.

You don't think version 2.0 is gonna get hacked? Soon, you'll be able to do all your homebrew stuffs on 2.0, and the world will be in order again.

Yay!

Eh...I'd be more exited about the Nintendo Wi-Fi. But that's just me.

Right, but Nintendo has a crappy history of utilizing teh internets.

I can only think of two games that used that stupid modem thing on the gamecube, and they were both Phantasy Star Online games.

I hope they stick with it, instead of doing their regular thing of releasing something and BARELY supporting it.

Another example? Sure. e-readers. Those things were supposed to be so cool, adding stuff to your games and unlocking little games to play on your GBA.

The problem was that it sucked. It wasn't cool, and it was WAY expensive.

But yeah, I'm way excited about that too, especially for Animal Crossing DS.

TOAST PAINT!

Just so you guys know, Sony is releasing the American version of the update next week.

Well, from what I've read, Sony has implemented some serious encrypting and security. Y'know, like the kind used on a PS2. It'll take forever to crack, probly.

craxorized :\, thats lame. even lamer that Crack-It-To-Me. i dont know when/ if the new update is coming to america,(That movie was O.K.), and i dont wanna jepordize my PSP by using somthing that was ment for a PSP-1000k. and also, my guys are working hard at cracking the code. u know the guy who cracked the Hot Coffee mod? i know him, but not verry good. infact, i just know who he is, weve talked, but he wasnt verry interested in what i have to say. i told him he ruined modding for everyone by doing that mod. im just rambling on,(good song), so ill stop.

That's cool. Hot Coffee Found >> M to AO >> Rockstar loses $50 million.

That's harsh.

yeah, ud think that if they found HotCoffee, and have been rated AO, they would exploit the HotCoffee, just because they are forced to have an AO rating, and remove the HotCoffee, they would have the rating back to M.

then ur father is wrong, the ratings are made up by sensible people who know what to look for in an AO game. and this is the wrong place to disuss this, theres a thread in Politics section. my C key is messing up

ATTENTION: NEVER UPGRADE TO 2.01! YOU WILL BE SORRY. WE RECENTLY FOUND OUT HOW TO DOWNGRADE A 2.00 TO 1.50 TO RUN HARMLESS, HOMEBREW (UNSIGNED CODE). IF YOU UPGRADE TO ANYTHING PASE 2.00, YOU WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO PLAY HOMEBREW.

And trust me. You want homebrew. go to http://www.pspupdates.com for more information. Thank you.

Ahh-hem. Thats it.

EDIT:(darn, he beat me to it.)

I have downgraded, and I play homebrew with no problems.

it wouldnt brick it, its been tested on thousands of psps and it works. but what i gotta do is hack open my psp, remove the 2gb internal memery stick and replace it with a different one. thats about $200 down the drain just for Doompsp

How does that cost $200? Opening your PSP is easy. 2GB internal memory stick? Suuure.... :-|

well, like i have to recheck it and makesure what the GB is, it could range from anywhere from 2gb to 67gb, and that cost alot of money, so my price range is just an estimate. and plus liability insurance if this thing breaks, we gotta make it look like an accident.
