Kidz Bop, singing songs about sex...by ten-year-olds!

Anyway, I have to say I don't like Rush. That guy's voice is so irritating. Kinda overshadows anything good they might've done.

Agreed. Alot of the songs they sing aren't all that appropriate for the younger audiances.

I dunno, it's hard to forgive them for making me go through pain river during the durations of "Demolition Man" and "Mother".

The Police were mostly amazing, though, so I can forgive them for a couple big missteps.

Well there are younger audiances in this forum and you just told them all about it.
You've comtaminated my 11 year old mind. I mean not that I've don't know about that stuff already, I mean I'm an expert.

They won't stop because Kidz Bop continues to sell, and as long as sales are good they will keep making them.

OK, I like some pop music (Avril Lavigne, Good Charlotte, Green Day...). But a lot of it is just awful. Hilary Duff and Britney Spears, for starters.

Rap. I despise rap. I don't even view it as music. Music has a tune. Rap is just guys swearing to a beat.

Of course, most bands have a song that's not so good. They Might Be Giants had B*****d Wants To Hit Me, Avril had Sk8er Boi, Good Charlotte had I Just Wanna Live...the weird thing is, it seems that oftentimes the most popular song by any given band--the one that everyone associates with that singer, the one that's always on the radio--is one of the worst songs by the band. (Take the list above, for example. Well, except the first one. My friends only know about that one because I played it for them because it's so darn funny.)

"Rich Girl" is indeed a very crappy song. And don't get me started on "Who Let The Dogs Out?". I don't think anyone knows that they have other songs.

And then there's Kidz Bop. They say the songs are "kid-friendly", but many of them have swearing or sexual themes. -_- Besides, they take good songs and butcher them beyond belief. They even did it to my precious Evanescence! :( Thank God that Weird Al and They Might Be Giants don't really appeal to the whole teenybopper crowd--hopefully they're safe.

Holy crap, so many bad songs, & artists...

System of a Down is just depressing...and annoying. The sudden tempo changes are just crap.

"MacArthur Park" by Donna Summer. I'm glad a song about a cake has been considered one of THE worst songs. You'd think Weird Al would do a good song about a cake, but he actually did a parody called "Jurassic Park".

William Hung's rendition of "She Bangs". No explanation.

"Superman" by Five for Fighting. Bad singing, dumb lyrics, & it was WAY overplayed after 9/11.

"I'll Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)" by Meat Loaf. He NEVER mentions what he won't do! ARGLE-BAGEL!

There are a LOT more, but I just wanted to throw these ones out.

But, before I go, I'd say about 80% of trance today is a joke, thanks to artists from these 2 countries: Belgium & Holland. Thanks for making "Epic Trance" the new #1 rave draw. Now, the French know how to make electronic music.

DAFT PUNK'd!

I'd say that's somewhat debatable--they're more on the "rock" end of the whole genre, but they also get a lot of coverage in crappy teen magazines.

I like Spiders, but SoaD is badly overrated. I don't get why they're so popular. I guess they're just one of those bands where people say they like them because they think it makes them cool.

funkstar wrote:

I think Avril and Good Charlotte try to be punk. They just fail miserably. The members of Green Day say they don't like to be labeled, but I put them in the same pop-punk category as Avril and GC.

I don't really classify them as "punk". I think Green Day could sorta be called "punk", but they're a bit too mainstream. I wouldn't put Green Day in the same category as the others, though--it tends to appeal to a more mature fanbase as well as teenage girls.

Worst song every=

One Step Closer:

I've been waiting such a long time
Just tryin' to get through
And it's takin' all of my strength
To keep me here away from you

It doesn't matter just how long it takes
Nothing changes when we're apart
It's just a little bit longer,
We've come this far

Chorus:
One step closer to heaven baby
Means one step closer to you
They'll be no more living without you baby
I'm counting each minute
'Till I'm back to you
One step closer to heaven baby
Hold on, hold on
Hold on to my lovin'

I've been saving every little bit of my love for you
I've been dreaming just to get by
It so exciting, fantasing

It doesn't matter just how long it takes
Just to know we'll be back together
But this time it's forever

Chorus:
One step closer to heaven baby
Means one step closer to you
They'll be no more living without you baby
I'm counting each minute
'Till I'm back to you
One step closer to heaven baby
Hold on, hold on
Hold on to my lovin'

It doesn't matter just how long it takes
Nothing changes when we're apart
It's just a little bit longer,
We've come this far

Chorus:
One step closer to heaven baby
Means one step closer to you
They'll be no more living without you baby
I'm counting each minute
'Till I'm back to you
One step closer to heaven baby
Hold on, hold on
Hold on to my lovin'
It doesn't matter just how long it takes
Nothing changes when we're apart
It's just a little bit longer,
We've come this far

One step closer to heaven baby

Ok, how many more times do I have to say this...punk is mainstream! The whole point behind punk was either
A) loud, insistent music categorized by aggresive or sometimes angry lyrics or
B) Something that casts a revolutionary theme against a culture or establishment (ie adults, athletes, businessmen, politicians)
In its criticism of progressive rock and pop rock, it has made itself mainstream because lots of people got attached to the message. They grew up, and younger people got attached as well, and its popularity grew to what we know now. So technically, punk itself is now an establishment. Ironic, ain't it?

Anyway, I have to be toastpaint and say that the worst song is that terrible terrible rap song that Madonna sang. I forget its name, and I am glad I did.

That wasn't going soft.. It was just a chance for Fred Durst to try to cover some REAL music.. He failed, although not miserably.

When Worst Song Ever comes to mind, I think about the Billy Ray Cyrus concerts I worked a few summers ago... he did a 7 or 8 minute version of Achy Breaky Heart.. For those of you who are too young to remember the Achy Breaky craze (aka: The Cyrus Virus) circa 1992, I will spare you the details. For those of us that ARE old enough to remember, I won't say any more, just to spare us the horrible flashbacks.
