I could have sworn there was already a topic for this, but nevermind.
Does anybody here enjoy logic puzzles? Yesterday I found Whose Fish?, a puzzle supposedly written by Albert Einstein. I haven't solved it yet (both my girlfriend and my other girlfr-- er, StrongCanada managed it in about half an hour).

StrongCanada also turned me on to Sudoku, which is tons of fun.

Any favorite logic puzzles?

P.S. Please don't post solutions/answers to puzzles here. Feel free to posts links to solutions, but make sure it's appropriately labeled (a la spoiler warnings).

Amy got me on the fish one, too... Took about 2 or 3 hours (with most, if not all the "answers" falling into place in the last 10 minutes... It's kinda tricky, then, BOOM, it hits you. The best way to do it is to work for about 30 minutes, then take your mind off it, completely!

Here's [/url] another good site with plenty of stuff. There are a lot of ads an pop-ups and stuff there, which is a shame..

phpBB, I think, is stupid when it comes to .info links.

That was me! I finished it in twentie minutes!

How about this one: I'm sure you've seen it before though:

How many F's?

FINISHED FILES ARE THE RE-
SULT OF YEARS OF SCIENTIF-
IC STUDY COMBINED WITH
THE EXPERIENCE OF YEARS

That's not exactly a logic puzzle. More of a mental trick.

OH! I almost forgot the riddle called: The Secret Behind the Green, Glass Doors.:

Behind the doors there are:
Teens but no adults
Root Beer but no soda
Jeeves, Google and Yahoo, but no seach engines.
Butt Cheeks, but no vending machines.
Hills but no mountains.
Yellow but no blue
Summer and Fall but no Spring or Winter
a guy named Matthew lives there.
a girl named Jessica lives there
but not a guy named Jacob
Thomas nor Tom does not live there but Tommy does.

I could go on for a lot longer. If you want more hints, I'll post more.

If you figure it out: YOU ARE SWORN TO SECRECY!!! That is part of the secret behind the green glass doors. Not even a spoiler link. PM me with the answer if you think you've got it.

What are we supposed to figure out?

I have Utard's figured out.

It's a lot easier to say it out loud than to write it down.

These things drive me nuts, but fortunately I know the answer to this one.

FireBird, you have to figure out why all of the above is true.

P.S. Excel is great for helping solve Sudoku puzzles. Go go conditional formatting!

I've tried the fish thing and sudoku before and failed horribly at them. I figured out the door thing pretty quickly though.

Finally! After an hour or so of effort, I've figured it out. Well, according to that page, I've got the right person, I just want to figure out if I did indeed get everything right or if that was just a fluke. Odd, one would think that the 'net would be rife with solutions, but it seems not so. Well, I guess that's a good thing.

Hmm, for once, a fill-in chart has come in handy, although I did need to make a grid, as well.

As the page mentions, it's easy to change the puzzle slightly to render outside solutions invalid.

But I do wish they'd provide a completed solution grid.

Oh geez. Reading this topic makes me cringe. I like the all those logic puzzles, but I can never figure them out, no matter how easy they are. I'll be sitting there for hours, and I'll be looking at the paper, and I'll never figure it out.

I've never had to do that before... Strangeness abounds! But, yeah, thanks Funkstar..

A completed solution thing to the fish would have been great, but the solution they did give was roffle-able...

This may or may not fit here, but...

If you try to fail, and succeed, which have you done?

Lets see you do that

Heres One:

Billies Uncle works as a Butcher. He is 6'4,42 years old, and works 12 hours a day. What does Billies Uncle weigh?

Easy, I know. :p Im a Fith Grader, what do you expect?

EDIT: Heres one...

If a red house is made from red bricks, and a pink house is made from pink bricks, whats a green house made from?

I like those, but they're really riddles rather than logic puzzles.

Hard to say if this one's a logic puzzle or a riddle, or maybe in between.

There are three ants in a line, all facing the same direction. The first ant says "there are two ants behind me." The second ant says "there is one ant behind me." The third ant says "there are two ants behind me."
How is that so?

Creative solution, Sui, but incorrect.

They're all facing perpendicular to the line. (I tried to draw a diagram, but failed my ASCII check.)

Some riddles.

I'm sure most of you have heard most, if not all, of these.
Some months have 31 days, but how many have 28 days?

Can a California man legally marry his widow's sister?

Divide 30 by 1/2 and add 10. What is the answer?

If you overtake the second person in a five runner race, what place would be?

Take 1000 and add 40 to it. Then add another 1000. Add yet another 30. Add 1000 more. Add 20 to that. Add an additional 1000. Finally add 10. What is the sum? (This one never ceases to amaze me.)

Again, I'm sure most of you have heard these, but they're my favorite.

No, I don't think so.

InterruptorJones wrote:
(Spoiler) The original three ants are side by side, which means they're all facing the same direction, which is all that's necessary to satisfy the conditions of the riddle. The riddle does not say that any of the original three have to behind any other or that there are only three ants -- in fact, there are seven.

It's a clever riddle because we're used to thinking of ants marching in a line.

P.S. Firebird it ruins the fun if you post the answers, 'cause then when we quote you (to post our guesses) we see them!

GROW RPG. Very confusing and addictive. I maxed out everything. There's an old version too.

There's SOME logic in there..... to some extent. Kept me busy for a few days :)

Green Glass Doors was easy. Who's Fish was challenging, but I had solved it before. Me want more puzzles!
