Oh by the way with the ants question I guess I didnt' clarify enough. Read it on anothe forum, and the person who posted it had to keep clarifying himself. A little too vague perhaps. Ok, the three ants are facing in the same direction AND along the line, not away from it. Like < < < (< denoting an ant) Sui was right, the last ant was supposed to have been lying. |

Bah. My answer made for a better riddle. |

< < < (< denoting an ant) Sui was right, the last ant was supposed to have been lying. But I think Jones meant that the ants were facing like so: ^ ^ ^ (assuming the points are their heads) |

Right, that's what I read IJ's answer as. Once again the person to post that had to keep reclarifying. From the start it should be There are three ants and three ants (no others) only in a line, facing in the same direction along the path of the line. They are on an arbitrary plane that extends in all directions. (no "around the earth") The ant in the front of the line says "there are two ants behind me." The one in the middle says "there is one ant behind me." The last ant says "there are two ants behind me." But hey this isn't purely a logic puzzle anyways. |

...Wait, that's not right... Folks, he already gave us the correct answer: The last ant was lying. I still think my answer is better, but we can stop arguing about it now. |

<bunch of clues> That one was easy... I spent maybe 4 or 5 lines solving it and the rest confirming it... Just to be sure, would I be right to say that Apples are behind the doors, but Windows is not? Mozilla is, but not Internet Explorer? I'll give you one of my favorites: say you have a standard 8x8 chessboard and 32 dominoes - each domino covers exactly 2 squares of the board. It is easy to see that the 32 domioes will cover the 64 squares on the board. Now, if you chop off the two opposite corners of the board and throw away one of the dominoes, can you cover the remaining 62 squares with the 31 dominoes? How/why not? |

But the "key" is very visible when it's spelled out. |

Yeah, I guess it would be harder spoken... |

Here's one, A man was on the run from the police. He was relaxing, watching a play in a crowded theatre. Suddenly he noticed that detrctives were closing in on him from all directions and were coveing all exits. How did he escape? This is an easy one. You should get it fairly quickly. That is, if you're thinking the right way. |

I'm so glad I found this thread! I love logic puzzles, particularly the ones by Puzzle Japan and its parent company Nikoli (http://www.nikoli.co.jp/en). There's a certain magic to their puzzles I have yet to see from any American provider. I actually have one of their Slither Link books, and have finished it. It was VERY fun. My most recent order, consisting of two of their Kakuro puzzle books, just came in today. I look forward to completing them!
Is anyone else here into Kakuro? |
