I currently own a PS2, not a Game Cube, but I've been a Nintendo fan since the original NES. I am planning on getting the Revolution, I can't wait for it to come out. |

now I may be biased in every way, but nintendo kicks butt, and seeing as how I grew up with it, it never got to childish for me. |

I personally don't see how nintendo has survived all these years, they've made so many mistakes... DS is the latest one, don't get me wrong, the DS I had was fun for a while, but why don't they use the touch screen for something practical? Like an inventory in an action RPG? The biggest problem I have with the DS is that the games they make lately focus waaaaaaaaaaaay too much on the touch screen, I think the touch screen can be a pain, I like my push buttons. Other mistakes nintendo has made: Making too many "kid" games, N64 Cartridges (hard to develop high-end games on a cartridge), Gamecube minidiscs (no DVD player? crud!). IMHO nintendo should stick to gameboys and give it up with the home consoles. See the light nintendo, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 will best the Revolution, history will repeat itself once again. |

Nintendo isn't building a system to compete with those systems. They're building an affordable system to compliment them. Yes, I know that the gamecube didn't have a DVD player. There's a reason, you can buy DVD players. Yes, the graphics aren't great, graphics aren't everything. One of my favorite games of all time is TankWars. It was a dos game with wonderful 16 color graphics. Until Smash Brothers Melee, it was probably my favorite multiplayer game of all time. At the risk of sounding like a Nintendo fanboy, I still like Nintendo and plan to buy the Revolution when it comes out. Granted, Nintendo has made a lot of mistakes, but they wouldn't still be around if they didn't offer something that Sony and Microsoft don't. |

Certainly not better games IMO, SSB was just weird, neither me or any of my friends like it very well, Mario is great, provided it's an actual Mario adventure, which are few and far between. XBox IMO had the best RPG ever (fable) they most definetly had the best shooter (Halo). Playstation 2 controlled the best Fighters (Tekken, Virtua Fighter) The best platformers (Jak and Daxter and the sequels Jak 2 and Jak 3). Gamecube had Mario, and that's about all I was interested in, other than sonic, who has now gone multiplatform, as well as super monkey ball, which is also multiplatform now, there is next to nothing Nintendo has to keep me interested. That being said, I probably won't post anymore in this thread. |

You may not have liked SSB, but an overwhelming amount of people do. It's fairly unique for a fighter in that (a) whereas in other games, ring outs are only an aside, whereas in SSB, they're the idea, and (b) you can't just push buttons and expect to win. Random mashing doesn't work. Quote: XBox IMO had the best RPG ever (fable) they most definetly had the best shooter (Halo). I don't play Halo, but most people seem to think it's the best shooter, so I offer a shrug. But there are a number of people who'd see your Fable and raise it with a Wind Waker and, likely, Twilight Princess soon... and pretty much the entire Zelda series, which has been a fan favorite for twenty years now--a series without a bad game in it, really. Quote: Playstation 2 controlled the best Fighters (Tekken, Virtua Fighter) The best platformers (Jak and Daxter and the sequels Jak 2 and Jak 3). SSB is a much better fighter than your average fighter, IMO. And 'Tendo's got a lot of really great platformers in its repoirtoir over the ages--Mario 64, Banjo-Kazooie, and little gems like Rocket, Robot On Wheels--heck, they DID invent the genre with Donkey Kong. Quote: Gamecube had Mario, and that's about all I was interested in, other than sonic, who has now gone multiplatform, as well as super monkey ball, which is also multiplatform now, there is next to nothing Nintendo has to keep me interested. Zelda? Pokèmon? Metroid? Fire Emblem? Mario Kart? Animal Crossing? But I suppose not everyone likes everything. Quote: That being said, I probably won't post anymore in this thread.
Good-bye, then. |

Wow, Freezy, that was a really good post. You said everything I would have. But I'll just say that Halo is incredibly overrated, and is most certainly not the greatest shooter ever. Nor is Fable the best RPG ever. I'm sure it could not hold a candle to Tales of Symphonia, some of the old Final Fantasy games, and Golden Sun. |

*lifts eyes to heaven* At last! Someone who has seen the light! I knew someone who claimed that he would look at the grass in Halo and forget that he was playing a game. |

I agree, I personally have much more fun playing 007 games, me and my friend have so much fun with remote control missles on Agent Under Fire. |

That's always confused me...what exactly are Legend of Zelda games? I think of them as action RPGs since it plays out like a lot of them (So many items to collect, power ups, etc.) except for leveling up Link. |

In practice, it seems like the genre Zelda gets labeled with is... Zelda. It's not quite an RPG, but people tend to think of it as one. It's not quite perfectly an action-adventure, but it gets called that too. But if you ever see a game with a formula similar to Zelda, almost instantaneously, it gets called a Zelda clone. Though not always, thankfully. And occasionally un-thankfully. And let's not get into bad indie movies.* *Someone once posted a link at another message board to the homepage of an indie movie that screamed "Zelda ripoff!" pretty badly. The hero was named Link, the princess was Saria (not Zelda, but awful close), and the villain was called Vaatir. Hua boy. |

So, guys: which games are you most looking forward to downloading when you get a Revolution? I'm thinking I'll catch up on some of the awesome Nintendo64 games that I missed -- I want to play Super Mario RPG, Paper Mario, Super Smash Bros., Mario Kart 64, and all those other crazy games I missed out on (I already have OoT and MM on the Zelda Collector's Edition, so I won't need to download those). I also think I'll download EarthBound, just to see what Ness was up to back in the day. What about yous guys? |

But I agree. Super Mario RPG is an awesome game. I'd also want to get Star Fox 64, and I'd definatly get Diddy Kong Racing. That game ruled. It had incredible gameplay and about two jillion cheat codes. I have many good memories of vs. battles when all weapons were automatically maxed out. So one missile baloon gave you ten normal missiles. Good times. |

Hmm...the first game I would download would easily be Super Mario RPG. Heck, it's my second favorite game of all time. I'd also get Earthbound- I never got to play it the first time around. For the N64, I'd get Mario Kart 64 and Super Smash Bros. as well. |

EarthBound is an absolute jewel. I love it lots! But I was stuck in it for the longest time because I couldn't find the fourth Sanctuary anywhere, and I'd already gotten the fifth! O.o When I get my Revo, I'm going all out, no holds-barred-no-prisoners-taken on SNES games. I'm loading up ALL the classics I've missed. I've already got LttP in remake form, so I'll go for all the Mario games (Mario Kart included!) the Kirby stuff I've missed, the SNES version of my favorite Tetris Attack, Super Metroid... I'm also going to get Mario Parties 1 & 3 for the N64 (I have 2.) 1 was way fun, if deadly to control sticks, and 3 had that wicked sweet RPG-style board. Good times. |

Speaking of EarthBound, I found out today that Mother 3 is set to hit Japan in approximately 40 days... no hint of an English release, however... |
