Huh?!?!!??

Excardon me, ma'am, [/senorcardgage] but what is ICQ?

It's an instant messaging thing, like AIM. ICQ is supposed to sound like "I seek you".
(believe it or not, Wikipedia knows)

I have trillian, so I made an ICQ number a while back so I could talk to more of my friends. It's in my profile.

ICQ has been around longer than most of you folks have even been on the internets.

I had an account, way back in '96 or so under the name of LiquidHeck, but nothing recently.

I still have an account, and use it to talk to one or two people. My ICQ# is only 7 digits long (teh l33t!).

I think that concept of assigning people numbers was just a bad idea.

I completely agree. But it does give me a banner to wave around ("Look at my low number! Mwa-hah-ha!")

For what it's worth, my Slashdot ID is five digits, and my Blogger ID (do they even show people their numbers anymore?) is less than 3,000.

Wow, I realized I never got around to adding my ICQ number on here, even though I have it on most forums. ADD'd!d. 9 digits.

Yeah, I accually was reading somewhere that people have auctioned off low numbers, so maybe your sitting on a gold mine there!

WFT?? I haven't accessed my ICQ in a dog's age! And that's a really long time! I'm sure it's been deactivated by now...oh well...I would've liked to make some extra moolah...

I used ICQ and IRC for a couple of weeks in early 2001, but haven't looked at them since. I don't even know what my number/name whatevers were.

I had it years ago (aka 1999) under the name NearlyHeadlessNick. No idea what's happened to it since then.

I used to be able to get my old profile when I searched "LiquidHeck" but not so much anymore.

I used to use ICQ like, a LONG time ago. Like in 1996 or 97. I don't remember my name or my number at all. I just remember that horrible "Uh-oh!" sound. It haunts me dreams.

Wow, y'alls are making me feel old. I signed up for ICQ way back in '96 or '97. And let me tell you, it was prooty awesome back then.

Does anybody remember PowWow? For awhile it seemed like every single web site had a PowWow button on it.

I do remember PowWow. I never used it, but I remember seeing it all over the frickin' place.

Man. I'm just as old as IJ.

I mean, older than IJ.

Boo.

I used PowWow once or twice. With beautiful 28800 connection speeds, though, it sounded pretty carpy.

Wow, we were all on ICQ in '96 or '97. Creeeeeeepy.

Oh, man, I forgot about that, too.

I remember my freshman year of college I'd wait til my friend down the hall turned up his speekers (as evidenced by the loud music) and then send him an ICQ message: UH OH!!!

WS_FTP uses those exact sounds. At least I know when a download cuts off.

I hate WS_FTP so bad. I'm so glad you can turn off the sounds, like that stupid train whistle one.

I do most of my serious (i.e. really big) downloading with wget anyway. :P Can't make that play any sounds (or resume downloads, for that matter)
