I was in second grade, home sick. My mom ran in and changed the channel. Most of my family lives in New York, so I was scared out of my mind. The rest of the week I was calling all of my relatives. My aunt works in NYC and was watching the whole thing while on the train.

Wow.. That's awesome. Beating someone up for the activities of someone they don't know, just because they are of the same race... I'm-a go beat myself up for what Hitler did. /sarcasm

Dude, we had some stupid people on campus that were making death threats against the international students. It was stupid.. People were threatening EVERYONE that went into the Int'l Student Center.. I could get threatening middle eastern students, but Brazillians? Norwegians? WTF?!?!? If it hadn't been for some of the guys from the redneck frats stepping in, I don't think those students would have left the International Student Center... It's funny, most of those guys were called racists, and rednecks, and stuff, but they were the only people actively standing up for the foreign students..

I was walking to my next class and I met up with my friends Vicky and Sam. Sam asked if we had heard about the plane crash and I said no. She said a plane had crashed into the WTC and I said, how do you crash a plane *into* a building? She didn't know, she hadn't heard anymore. By lunch the school was abuzz with rumours, and by the end of the day each class had been updated on the situation. I don't really remember what happened, it was like a dream. My mom picked me up. "Did you hear-" "Yes." CNN was on when we got home and I watched it for at least three hours. When I finally saw the actual footage, I wept harder than I had in years. When I got sick of the coverage that wasn't giving any updates, I went to my room and wrote a short tune for the occasion.

A little off topic, but I don't know if any Australians saw the report on "A current affair", (I watch the show to laugh at the bad journalism), The story was about how muslims had to carry a "I'm not a terrorist card" around. Now that my friends, is stupid.

W-w-w-wait. If I didn't know better, I'd say by your last comment there that you were... justifying your conduct on that day? Your phrasing in the first post indicates some measure of self-righteousness. Then, you're called dumb for involving yourself in such behaviour. In response to this, you say, "hey, thats how it was then." You're actually still standing by your behaviour?

Let me think up another example, if Ju Ju's wasn't good enough, as apparently it wasn't. What would you think if I went around calling people absolutely insensitive and racist idiots who I was ashamed to share the brand of 'human' with just because they looked like you? It wouldn't be right, would it? You wouldn't like to see me doing that, would you? Heck, you don't like to see me doing that right now. Granted, it's a slightly different issue, doing it because they look like you, or doing it because they are you, but the basic point is the same, regardless of which one it is I am doing it for (B, if you couldn't figure it out).

Actually, while reading it, I skipped over the part that implied that he himself beat up kids, I thoguht it just said his freinds beat them up. That's wrong, man. You're just mimicing the terrorist, but to a much lesser degree: The terrorists hate us, so they kill innocent civilians,. You hate bin laden, so you beat up people that look like him. In the end, you're doing the same thing as they are, just to a much elsser degree, as I said before.

Pssh. You freely admit to beating up Middle-Eastern kids? I'm ashamed.

I'm with Egg on this one. I'm German! Oh noes! Best go beat myself up for Hitler!

I was in fifth grade on September 11th. Our teachers told us nothing- I didn't know until five hours later, when I got home. I remember the exact place I was sitting, toying with an "eMate". Oddly, though, I've never been much affected by the 9/11 attacks. I'm not really sure why... I think it was just because I doubted that anyone in my family would be hurt, nor anyone I knew or their family. The only concern I had was that my dad, who was in the UK at the time, was flying over to the States in just a few days, although I doubt that any terrorists would have hijacked a plane from England.

In spite of all of this, the story about the group of passengers who fought back on the Pennsylvania plot has always been a great deal of inspiration to me. I just like the idea of a few doomed men (Todd Beamer and Jeremy Glick both have Wikipedia articles, I believe.) saving the lives of so many others.

Let's roll!
