Trailer here

Good idea?
I like how they've decided to shoot it like a FPS but I don't like how The Rock is in it.

DOOM was and probably still is one of my favorite computer games, but I can't see how it could be translated into a movie very effectively without coming off as one more lame and generic action flick. I heard awhile back that it doesn't seem to have all that much to do with the original game anyway, so what's the point?

It seems interesting that it'll be entirely in the first person, and it has potential, so we'll have to see how it turns out.

It could be cool... but video games made into movies usually aren't. I don't think this one will be that good... but hopefully it will prove me wrong.

At least it'll be original. And they have to get props for that right?

Yeah, but who are they going to get him to fight? His main enemy is the Fantastic Four, and they just got done with that movie.

Didymus? Do you know what we're talking about?
The game, not the bad guy from Fantastic Four.

In that case, still no. Movies should never be based on video games. Case in point: Super Mario Bros.

What about Tomb Raider? 'Twas good enough.
Movies based on action games are ok.

Tomb Raider? Wasn't all that great. It was basically Indiana Jones but with the very hot but not terribly smart Angelina. I watched it with somebody on DVD. Glad I didn't pay to see it.

I think it looks cool. Probably the first trailor for a video game-based movie that actually makes me want to see it.

I've never really played the game, but from what I've seen of it, and looking at that trailer, I think it looks pretty good. I'd definitely go see it.

Looks much better than Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, and of course, Super Mario Bros.

I loved the game. I totally PWN3D at it. Ithink making a movie was a great idea, and I think The Rock was a great choice to be the lead.

I don't really care, but I'm hoping it's not a flop.

Like Metroid will be. I swear, everyone who works on that has never played a Metroid game in their life.

I don't think it will be good. Probably some people will go crazy over it just because of it being about a game they like, but I bet some of them will be highly dissappointed.

Personally, I didn't like the game also, so I'm not one to judge and all...

I saw Mortal Kombat the movie, and I thought it was pretty awesome! I mean it was very silly and not that good, but for what it was, I liked it a lot! Plus it had that woman in it who was also in Billy Madison and showed him a thing or two!

What are you basing that on, comic book guy?

I don't know if it's gonna work or not.. As long as it is more to the story than Street Fighter was, it won't be HORRIBLE.

The problem I've noticed with most video games that were made into movies is that they either really didn't stick too closely to story of the game, or the people who made the game weren't brought in early or often enough in the movie process.

Videogame based movies usually DO work better than movie based videogames.
My neighbor said that he heard that someone was working on a screenplay for a Metal Gear movie... It'd either be awesome or horrible.

Wait, what? the movie is in first person view? Wow, looks like it'll be about as entertaining as watching someone play the game :\

What have you heard about the Metroid movie? Because I haven't heard anything about it and I'm dying to know what they're doing to it.

It's a good idea, but, I don't think it'll get good reviews. At all.
It'll probably scare the pants off of me anyways... :p

You know those critics, though. Sometime a movie is wonderful, but it still gets bad reviews.

I've heard that it takes place on earth and Samus is blonde and she hunts weird aliens and other stuff.

I mean, EARTH?

I might still go and see it though, it may be crap, but I'll still see it.

I'm gonna say one thing:

No demons. No Mars. No UAC. No BFG. WHY DOES THE PRODUCER OF THIS MOVIE LIVE?

Okay, the earth part is kinda weird (I want to see Tallon IV), but.... hunting weird aliens is what Samus does. And she is blonde.

I don't like movies based off games. But ask yourself this: What's worse? A movie based off a game, or a game based off a movie? I'm going with the second one.

I actually thought Super Mario Bros was good. Guess I'm in the minority. (It was really bad Toad got turned into a Goombah, though)

Oh yeah, forgot that. But I still stand.

all movies based on videro games are doomed to suckage.
Final Fantasy Movie: Sucked
Tomb Raider Movie: (other than the view) Sucked
Resident Evil Movie: Sucked

I mean how much of a plot can you take from a game that already doesn't have a good plot, since cross-media projects normally REDUCE the quality of entertainment. Unless your theater has joysticks and keyboards, you cant make a good video game movie.
