I just got braces on today, and I'm wondering how many other forumers have them or have had them, and what your advice and opinions are of them. So far, all I've had to deal with has been slight discomfort.

I had 'em. But they're gone now.

My only advice is to brush regularly. You don't want stripedy teeth when your braces come off.

I'm going to get braces soon.

From what my friends tell me (almost all of them had braces) they suck.

I've never had braces, and probably never need them. At my school though, more than half the kids have braces.

I've never had them braces. I might have needed them for a sligh overbite (not too bad, just slight) but it was too much money to fix such a little thing.

I had braces and they screwed up my teeth. They straightened them like they were took supposed to do, but the cement used to adhere my braces to my teeth took the enamel off my teeth. That left my teeth yellow, which didn't help when I tried to go after the lady-types.

Ugh, gross.

Although I'm sure it was just bad luck in your case.

I'm going to need braces soon, my front tooth is incredibly crooked. My dad is telling me to wait for a few more years for my jaw to grow out, though. I really don't like the sound of braces for some reason. It seems like it would hurt like...a low blow.

I had braces two years ago. I needed them for two years. And, unlike everyone else in the known universe, I actually liked them. A lot.
My uncle had them for nine years when he was a kid.

I didn't really like my braces because they gave me a bad lisp. I had my braces from 6th grade to 8th grade so about two years.

Just got the buggers tightened today...and a powerchain. Please send your sympathy. I get mine off in January though.

I had braces from about 2 months into 5th grade until April of my 8th grade year. It TOTALLY sucks, BUT you have to remember that it's worth it in the end. My teeth are awesome. I love my smile. That alone makes not being able to eat something as soft as yogurt for 2-3 days a month for 3+ years worth it..

It's gonna be REALLY weird for a while.

Before they put them on, run your tongue across the front of your teeth, it'll be the last time you get to do that for a while.

One word of advice, be sure you know how to use floss and toothpicks.. Trust me on this one. Any kind of stringy meat or pretty much anything else is going to make itsself stick in your braces. It sucks, but I feel your pain, man.. I've been there, done that..

As others have said, and the orthodontist will drive into your head, keep up on the brushing. Brush until you've brushed enough, then brush a little more. And see if they have a little brush for you to get between the braces, and some floss threaders..

Good luck.

I used to have braces for about a year. At first, whenever they tightened them, my teeth would be really soar for a day or two and all I could eat were really soft foods like yogurt. But don't worry, after a few times of tightening it didn't really hurt anymore.

I used to have these bands on my back teeth that I had to put elastics on. It was a real pain. But now I have a winning smile.

I had em, they weren't so bad.
Mine hurt the most the day after I got them on.
Tightening didn't hurt a lot for me.
Just wait till you get the rubber bands criss-crossing in each and every direction in your mouth!!

It's cool to get them off, you're teeth feel all gooey and you keep rubbing your toungue over your teeth to check if there's food stuck in them!!

I had braces! They were awesome!! Oh, I was so adorable back then ha ha!! I played trombone at the time, so I needed to get special rubber so that my inner lips wouldn't get shredded most uncomfortably. Once, I got my tongue caught in them.. that was uncomfy, but I eventually pulled it back out again.. good times!!!

Nope. But all of my friends have, at one point. There was actually a tooth I had, though, that had grown to the side, so the adult tooth was coming in but it wasn't pushing the other one out. Had I not had the baby tooth pulled I would have needed braces. Woo.

In many languages people call baby teeth milk teeth.
Actually, I didn't know the English word is "baby teeth" until today.

Jeez, I wish I had awesome teeth. My two front teeth are crooked. But that's about it.

My dad's against me getting braces for some reason. Oh well.

I haven't ever had them, but I'm probably gonna need them. My dad needed them, and my sister needed them. And my bottom teeth are crooked.

Wouldn't matter to me, my teeth are already yellow. It's weird, at first I thought it was I wasn;t brushing enoughj but over the years it seems liek other albinos have yellow teeth too, so it may be that

ANyways, I need braces soon. I hope I get them on a Friday, since we don't choose ahat lunches we eat at school (and they're usually chewy)

Well that's gonna suck, as my alwyas touches my teeth when my mouth is closed. Plus, my mouth fills with saliva (yes, it's gross) a lot, so I have to suck it back down, and the onloy way to do that is putting my touneg to my teeth

Guess I'll be spitting on the ground now...
