I had braces for about 2 years. Advice, advice...

BRUSH YER FREAKIN' TEETH! You don't want "bracket burn", which is when the teeth around the brackets yellow. Bad news. Also, food particles get stuck much more easily in braces than in non-braced teeth, leading to potential bad breath. So keep brushin'.

Also, WEAR YOUR RETAINER AFTER YOU GET YOUR BRACES OFF. I didn't wear mine for long enough, and now my $3000 smile is just as crooked as it was before. Well, not really. But my teeth don't fit together perfectly anymore. Luckily my dad is a dentist, and had gotten one of his orthodontist friends to do my braces for free.

And, finally, DO NOT WEAR ONE OF THOSE T-SHIRTS THAT SAY "JUST BRACE IT" AND HAVE A NIKE SWOOSH ON THEM. Those things are lame.

Rofflexors.

I really don't want to get braces. I would miss the open space in my mouth.

I got braces about 2 months ago. The first month is the worst, but after that, it gets better, you forget you even have them after a while, except when all your food gets stuck in them.

I had braces for three years and I thank God everyday that they are gone.

Trust me. They don't hurt as much as people tell ya.
The only time it ever hurt for me was for about two seconds when he put on of the brackets on.

I got my braces at the beggining of the last school year. Right now I'm a freshman. They tell me I have two more years to go, and I'm gonna need three years of regular orthodontist appointments after to make sure everything goes smoothly. I'm currently a freshman in high school.

All through elementary school I had the ugliest teeth. They were SO crowded, before I got my braces I had to have four of them pulled. They were really crooked too, and I wasn't losing my baby teeth fast enough, so they were growing in wierd places all over. I had a severe underbite, and overdeveloped top palatte, an underdeveloped top palatte, and it was generally really messed up.

Before my braces, as a child, I had to wear a palatte expander in my mouth, and at night they gave me a freakish piece of headgear t owear. I still have it. I looked SOOOO silly :D

When I got my braces on they hurt like crap. I was on an all soft foods diet for a week. I have to wear those little rubber bands for my underbite. My favorite part about the braces if that you get to choose the colors. :D I am currently in Green and Yellow. It hurts a bit every time I get my braces tightened, but I am way over due for tightening. There is some confusion w/ dental insurance, plus the fact that my father is too lazy to make an appointment.

Since I got my braces, my smile has really improved. My teeth fit together now, they're straight, they don't jut out at wierd places, and I tihnk they look really nice. The only problem is that my crossbite got worse, and I developed a very madonna gap between my front teeth :) I'ts a whole lot better than the alternative, however.

I had them for the better part of 3 years, they were not all that great. If you have semi-crooked teeth they're going to hurt a bit every time you get them tightened. Wear your retainer after you get them off 'cuz it matters, and get them cleaned and bleached after you're done with the entire ordeal if you can (it's a good idea).

Have Fun

I got a second permanent retainer in today, just to fix one of the crooked teeth that was left over.

Bah. It doesn't hurt, though, so I'm fine.

Some times a few months, some times your whole life.

Ugh, that'd suck. I don't even think that';d be worth it, even if it is just at night (my sis had to wear it all of the time for a little while and then just at nnight)

Ahh... I remember my braces. They hurt at the beginning, but I got used to them after a while. When they took a mold of my mouth for my retainer they completely messed up my braces and I had to get them removed early. I don't have to wear my retainer anymore(after about a year at night.)

What would you rather have, horrible teeth or a computer program? In the long run, I mean.

C'mon, kids, if your folks are willing to pony up in order to beautify your dents, don't resent them for it. In a few years you'll all be wanting Crest Whitestrips too, and straight teeth whiten better than crooked ones. It's a fact.

I'm so glad, that I don't have to get braces. I just laugh at everyone with braces. Ha. I just laughed at someone. Ha, again.

...HA!
