Houston Astros vs. Chicago White Sox

I live in Houston, so naturally I'm going with the Astros, but I hear the White Sox pitching staff is tough. It'll be hard to do, but I'm still with the Astros.

What do you guys think?

I'm kinda torn. I mean, it's been since 1917 since the Sox last one the World Series. But on the same token, Houston has never won it in their history. So I'm rooting for the winner.

I think it's probably going to be the White Sox. As great as the Astros' big three pitchers are, they're going to have their hands full with a team that's both adept at doing little things to manufacture runs and hitting the ball out of the park.

At least, I'm hoping it's going to be the Sox, since I can't in good conscience root for Houston. See, I was at the September 7th Phillies/Astros game where the Phils had a 6-5 lead with two outs, none on in the ninth inning, then David Bell made an error, and eventually Craig Biggio hit a 3 run homer off Billy Wagner to win it. If the Phils had just held on in that game, things might have been a lot different. I'm still feeling sick over that night, and was hoping that Pujols doing the same thing to the Astros on Monday night would help eliminate them. Guess not. *sigh* :((

I'm rooting for the Sawks.
My sister lives in Houston, but she hates the 'Stros.

In reality though, the Yanks are out, so, who cares, right?

As long as the Yanks are out, I'm happy. Though I do wish that it'd be the Red Sox in the World Series instead.

No, I personally don't like repeats. It was so nice to see a couple of new teams in the ALCS.

Very yes! I say this all the time, but I firmly believe that the Yankees won't win another World Series title as long as A-Rod is taking up a roster spot. It's karmic justice for the most overpaid player in the game, and one of the least reliable superstars at delivering clutch hits when it REALLY matters (look to David Ortiz and Andruw Jones, the real MVP's, for that). It's the curse of 'Slappy', and so far my theory hasn't been proven wrong.

I'm kinda hoping for the Astros. I've always liked the players on their team, but they never seem to have a good season or anything. Plus I'm a Cubs fan.

But that doesn't matter, because the 2006* Champs: DETROIT TIGERS!!! :p

*more like 20X6

Da Sawx are going to win. They deserve it, 85 years of suffering is enough.

85? They last one in 1917, making it 88 years. And TEF makes fun at me for my math.......

Of course, they probably COULD have won in 1919. Besides, Houston has never won in their 43 years as a team.

Houston has never even been to World Series in there 44 years of existance. As for the 1919 Black Sox Scandal, that would have never had happened if the owner wasn't a cheap skate and accuatly cared for his team.

Yes, they could have, but instead several players threw the series, which gave the league a bad name. This is known as the Black Sox scandal.

The White Sox beat the Red Sox, so by default, go Astros.

The ChiSox totally copied us, too. :P

Yep, that'll do. Go Boston, or any team that isn't the Yankees, except those who beat Boston!

Does that make sense....I thought not....

Win or losse, i think i may convert to an Astros fan, just because the Yankees are sucking and are sell outs...

Don't tell me you're just realizing this now!
Yeah, I'm a die-hard Red Sox fan.

I think the Astros can and will dominate the ChiSox. Clemens is just as good as he ever was, and the rest of the lineup is nothing to sneeze at, either.

I missed the story about that game...

But good thing the hit was off Wagner. He used to play for the Astros, and was pretty good, too. Sweet, sweet revenge.

But that Pujols hit killed me. We were on top and I was just starting my victory dance when *SMACK*.

Well, I made it 50/50 by voting for the Sox. My reason? That's who most people I know want to win. I could care less. Baseball is boring to me.

Don't worry, if the Sox win it this year, then the Cubs will win it oh about.....9 years. It all evens out.

I'd go for the Astros.

The name CHIGAGO WHITE SOX is quite familiar.

Freaking Yankees can't make it in the World Series for their life!

Well that is because the Cubs just suck. They haven't even been to a World Series since 1945.

Of course, the curse of the goat is the reason why they can't win the pennant. I am a Cubs fan, but since my friend is an even bigger Cubs fan, I about died laughing after the Steve Bartman ( :D )incident.

That's because the ChiSox couldn't be bothered to come up with a more original name, and decided to steal the name from my beloved Red Sox.

I'm really taking the Red Sox fan outlook on this: As long as the Yankees aren't in it, I'm satisfied.
