70? That's it? Wow. And I though I didn't like to read. The most pages I have read in one sitting is 300 something, but that doesn't count to me. It was Harry Potter, and everyone reads insane amounts of pages per sitting with those books.


Well, I don't necessarily like reading too much--not too many books please me. So I find 70 pages in one sitting an accomplishment in my mind. I could've probably read more, but I had to go to sleep (there was also the fact that I had to reread the first ten-or-so pages a few times to understand them :P).

And also, I never really enjoyed the Harry Potter books either. I tried reading the first one but I was bored with it. The same applied with the third one awhile back.

I'm currently deep, deep into George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series. I'm on book 3, A Storm of Swords. I'd heard it was a good series, but I'm always reluctant to start a series if I don't know anything about it.

Luckily, I volunteer in a library, and they had the first book, so I borrowed it, and really liked it, so I bought the next two books. I recommend them to anyone who enjoys a good, long fantasy epic story.

I just finished reading Children of the Lamp - The Ahnkenaten Adventure. Fun and clever little story, but a bit awkwardly written.

I have to read The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time for school now. Have to. I don't really want to. The book looks clever, but...

I'm in the same boat, especially with A Song of Fire and Ice where each book averages about 700 pages. I cringe when I think of the Robert Jordan and Tad Williams books I have lurking in the back of my stacks somewhere. However, I strongly agree that Martin's epic is an awesome series. One of my all time favorites.

Ah Robert Jordan. Only he could write a series that long, with each book being so huge. And I love it so.

Anyways, I just finished up Sophie's World, a novel on the history of philosophy. It didn't suck, like I thought it would, but it didn't really change my world outlook, either. Still, if you need to learn some philosophy rather quickly, I'd give it a read.

I hope you change your mind once you're into it. I read it a couple of years ago and I thought it was fantastic. I wrote an essay on it for a scholarship contest and placed (but didn't win). Instead of a scholarship, I got a $100 gift card for Chapters. Anyway, it's an awesome book.

I'm still reading my summer trash. :mrgreen:

It isn't that I don't like it. I just hate being forced to read books, especially when I HAVE stuff to read.

Yeah, it kind of sucks when you have to read a book for school. I find that I never enjoy them as much as I would if I had chosen to read them. But really, it's grood.

Ooh, I had to read Beowulf for English class last year. It was kind of tough to get around the language, but an awesome story nonetheless.

I'm kinda sad that I'm not taking any more English courses. Dang that Italiano.

I just finished Star Wars: Brainwashing Multimedia Project. Erm, Shadows of the Empire. It was great, and the ending was too. I'm not sure what I will next. I might get a book, but all I know about it is that 1.) It's a 007 book. 2.) It wasn't a 007 novel written by Ian Fleming. 3.) It hasn't been made into a movie yet.

I had to read that for my Senior year in High School. Let's just say that Wikipedia and Cliff Notes came in handy quite well.

Beowulf is one of those stories I've been meaning to get around to for some time. Rumor has it director Robert Zemeckis (Forrest Gump, Back to The Future) is going to do a film version penned by Neil Gaiman (Sandman, various awesome books) and Roger Avary (Pulp Fiction, Rules of Attraction).

If this pans out, I'll read the text because I am definitely seeing that film.

What the...But...the dude in Eragon is named Hrothgar. Paolini has brought his plagiarism too far! It's okay by me to have really similar character name's that are obviously ripped off of another series (i.e. Eragon= Aragon), but to copy the exact same name is just....too blatant for me, Paolini! I've had it!

Btw, I'm reading Evil Star and IT.
