If you voted other, please explain.

So, I went to the midnight showing of Harry Potter last night, and I'm freakin exhausted and dead today now. Anyone else go yet?

I went 2 hours early and played tetris on my phone till the movie started. But the hardcores were there like 3 hours early standing outside to get in first... and a lotta people were wearing Hogwarts robes and had wands and stuff. Silly muggles... ;)

I have a real wand. Bought it at Ollivanders even. None of this silly imitation wand crap for me. Made of an African hardwood, with a dragon heartstring core.

Anyway, as far as the movie goes, I gotta say I was a little disappointed with the maze, and they didn't show all of the dragons. I liked the characterization a lot though... there were some really good lines in this one. And that Cedric, wow. Kinda hot. And Krum too... The mermaids were awesome as well. The graveyard scene was everything I'd hoped for. All in all, best movie yet. And this was my favorite book of the series too.

I voted Better then the other ones.

This is because Goblet of Fire is the only Harry Potter book I ever liked... So I guess it was more of a bias thing, but whatever.

Oh ya, I forgot to ask, what are the mermaid things like? I always imagined them as stereotypical bigbutt fineed type mermaids but I'm probably WAY off.

I really like the HP series, and the 4th book stands out a lot. I was thinking about seeing the movie...
But I think it'll kinda ruin the "picture that I see in my head." [/English teacher]
I never really liked the movies anyways.
So I'm kinda still considering it. But the 6th book was incredible.

Is that "HPer" statement meant to offend? I mean, I'm a freakin' fan.

Heh, I jest. :p I'm not a hypocrite.

Sometimes. :p

Anyways, I think I'll go see this thing Wednesday.

Since there's no "I didn't see the movie(s)/I don't plan on seeing it" option, I voted Other.

Author:  Jenny [ Sat Nov 19, 2005 5:46 am ]
Post subject:

Yeah sorry guys I can't change the poll now or I'd add that option, but I was sorta figuring the only people who would bother to look at this topic were planning to see the movie... oops! Anyway, wow... I thought for sure more ppl would be into it. I've read all the books also, but I didn't think the movies ruined them for me. Hmm... guess I'm a bigger dork than I thought. Ah well. I'm still goin to dress up in a robe and bring my wand if I see it a second time.

Each of the movies has been better than the one before. :) The three trials were brilliantly shown (my only beef: no sphinx in the maze) and the whole plot was a lot tighter than in the book. I'm glad they cut out
spoiler wrote:
the Dursleys and the SPEW plotline
as they kinda dragged the book to a crawl. They did a really great job of characterizing the kids in the Yule Ball stuff too. And the climactic showdown... shivers down my spine, for real. Moody and Voldy were perfectly cast.

Post subject:  Cool Movie

This movie was great! If was also the best book. I think the reason this movie was so good was because the book was really, well, cinimatic. There were a lot of things that were made for the movies in this book, especially the tri-wizarding tournoment.

I went. It was prooty good. I think of them as one big movie, so its hard to judge them, but it was really good. I was dissapointed by the Quiddich Worl Cup, though.

Yeah, the Quidditch World Cup was a letdown... it's a pity. They spent nice chunks of time on things that didn't really need as much time as they got (*coughYuleBall*), time that could have been used on things like... I don't know, explaining what the heck we're going on to the next scene for. The movie isn't at all cohesive, it just jumps from one scene to the next without really explaining why or how the characters and situation got there. The only way you can have a handle on it is to have read the book and as such know what's coming, and although I've read the book, I think it's an unfair expectation. And even to a person like me who has read the book, it's still very annoying.

Also, I found the acting lacklustre in quite a many places... several awkward deliveries left me feel like wincing. At points, it remound me of my class reading a Shakespeare text... yes, the right words are there, but the speakers completely miss how they're supposed to be said. Actors? Well, somewhat, I suppose.

A right pity; this was my favourite book in the series.

Yeah, I went to see it yesterday for my friend's birthday; my friend Noah kept mentioning all the changes.

The beginning was downright horrible, as far as transitioning goes, and it was just really weird how they changed the plot. I was fine with a lot of the subplots they didn't put in, but there were really important details left out that were replaced with extra time for things like....the prefects bathroom scene. And there was no Sphynx in the maze. Boo.

No, he wasn't, the Grim Reaper guy on there used his scythe to hold him back.

Just got back from seeing it, and it was great! Not as good as the third one, but I still liked it. The first Portkey scene was very impressive, much better than what I would have thought of. And the dragon part was awesome. And it was the funniest movie. But, I was very disappointed about Rita Skeeter. She had, like, no part in the movie! They said nothing about her turning into a bug or anything. But, it was a long book, so I guess they had to take out a lot.

True. It goes from before the match - you barely see the leprechauns, and NO veelas are mentioned throughout the entire movie - Fleur looks like your run-of-the-mill blonde-ponytail girl - to the whole Death Eater thing after the match.

No Winky

 Dude, you're right! I'd forgotten all about her!

I went to a 2 PM Saturday matinee with my boyfriend...there was STILL a line of people waiting to get in - already had tickets, just people showing up three hours early for a good seat. (we showed up...oh, forty minutes in advance.) Anyway, there was this lady in line in front of us who we let out of line and back in so she could get a ticket for her daughter, and later so she could get snacks. Anyway, when she went to get the snacks, she got us some popcorn, Whoppers, and water by way of thanks. Karma is delicious. Oh, and there was an entire birthday party of kids dressed up as first years (remember that movie? ah, how things have changed...) who had an entire row reserved for them. How cute.

And I wish they hadn't cut out the Dursleys. As per my habit of sticking up for the supporting cast members (Coach Z needs a hug!), I totally feelz for the kid what has to play Dudley. He has to wear a fatsuit and play the ONLY MUGGLE KID in the movie. That's gotta suck. Whereever he is, I gives him a hug. Yep.

Sui wrote:

And I noticed that too. It irritated me for maybe the first half-hour or more of the movie - then I gave up and just enjoyed the thing.
>enjoy poetry
I mean,
>enjoy movie
It like, jumped from the dream to the Portkey to the tent to the start of the match to the Death Eater thingsy to the Hogwarts Express to unlimited rice pudding etc. etc.

Anyway, and Snape is hilarious in this movie! Some of his fans might be offended that he has been relegated (-sounds like a vocabulary word) to a background/semi-comedic role in this movie, but all the more attention to pay to the actual bad guy, I think. *WHACK!* Hilarity! And did you notice he was watching when Ron's brother asked whats-her-face (no, not her...) to the dance? And, um...something... hardly any Malfoy! Hurrah! Take that, fangirls!

...also, everyone is hotter in this movie. Especially Ron and Fred and George, but especially Ron. Meh.

Oh, and did anyone see the preview with the dancing penguins? AWESOME! And now, a-one of them...analogy...thingys...or whatever they're called:
Xyzzyka Gruefrotzer:Penguins::Kiki:Lemurs
(I think I did that right.)
Anyway. So penguins! Yay!

And Myrtle is reallllly creepy. Guah.

And, this was my only chance ever to see what David Tennant looks/acts like without spending $30 for 3-5 episodes or moving to England, Canada, various European countries, Australia, New Zealand, or South Korea. Or unless BBC America or the Sci-Fi channel gets with the program. Not that I've ever seen any of the Christopher Eccleston episodes. Oh no. And I can't watch any of the old episodes, either, without the aforementioned $30 for 3-5 episodes (I can't afford that! I'm saving up for a Traveling Wilburys box set!), or without moving to Iowa or Maryland, or unless, again, BBC America or the Sci-Fi channel...

Um. Nobody knows/cares what I is talking about. Toastpants.
