I'm pretty sure you need the hard drive to emulate original Xbox games, so yeah. But don't buy the $300 version anyway, it's a complete ripoff.

Sony was smart and made the DualShock2(PS2) controller compatable with the PS3. So if you don't like the PS3 controller you can use the PS2 controller.

EXACTLY. My main beef with most other consoles that weren't a playstation, wa the controlelrs. I would of gotten an XBOX if it had a better controller, same with N64 (back in '98). I've held a model of the PS3 controllers and they aren't bad at all.

Well, that's one of the problems I've always had with Sony. NO innovation on the controller. While Nintendo's innovations are indeed annoying sometimes, at least it's something new and improved. I'd rather get a new controller than the same one every single update.

Hey Hey Hey. Why mess with perfection? They made they best controller out there, why mess with it? You can't say nintendo is all that innovative when every single system, including the handheld has the same button layout. So don't be so quick to accuse!

Looks at the PS1 Controller. Now look at the SNES controller. Same basic button layout, different symbols. SNES came first.

Then came N64, which used an analog stick. The next playstation used analog sticks.

Nintendo invents, other companies rip off.

nothing can be better than the 360, Sony is just putting out the PS3 so they can get people to use this Blue-ray crap.

Besides, $300 is a lot for me. I won't be getting any of the new systems for a long time. OH, a shiny new TOTPD!

no there's two xbox 360s. one is $300 and doesn't have a hard drive or play old xbox games. the $400 one can play old xbox games and has an hard drive and a whole lot of better stuff then the $300 one. i think if u where going to buy a xbox it would be the $400 one because it has better stuuf. but if the ps3 was out, nintendo and microsoft would never be seen again. they would go out of bussness. but i think the new nentendo system is awsome

IMO, I personally hate the four-button layout. Call me weird, but I found the button layout on the GC controller very comfortable--they were all different sizes, approximately proportional to their use, in highly different locations. With the exception of those odd X and Y buttons, it wasn't easy to get the buttons mixed up. I always get turned around when using the buttons on the PS controllers and on the DS as well. The fact that the PS games I've played do not have button conformity (AKA the same buttons are almost always used for the same thing every game--at least with what I've played) only serves to confuse me. Never played an XBox, so I'm not obliged to say anything about the controllers or the system itself. It's had some slick-looking games, but, because I've never played anything about them, it'd be very impudent of me to speak for/against the system. Although it DOES seem to attract the "snotty cool" crowd... though in the defense of legitimate gamers, most of the real gameheads try to stay on the up-and-up when it comes to all the systems. Thank goodness. A good game knows no system, except for technicalities.

I have more respect for a company that comes up with their own stuff, than ones that just rip off others.

Now with that said and not receiving bad comment as of yet, I will say this with full confidence: the Xbox 360 was put out to butter you up for Vista, they know that many of Vista's features are blatant copies of features used in Mac OS X. Now with the external HD-DVD drive that can be bought with the 360, Microsoft will receive flak thus turning HD-DVD into the spawn of Satan. Anyway, Blu-Ray has Apple on their side.
