Relax. Nintendo junkies are in good hands here.
I still haven't actually *beaten* Ocarina of Time. And it's my favorite game too... I'm working on MM as we speak, though.
I'm also feeling that Star Fox Adventures is going to end up being shorter than I'd like. Sigh...
Oh, and there's this other old N64 game called Rocket: Robot on Wheels that is ridiculously cool, but, unfortunately, also a little short. (It was made by the same people who made the Sly Cooper games, incidentally.) If it had had another world, that would be the bomb. It only had six, but they were terrifically creative. Punnily named, but wicked sweet. And I know them all by heart! For no reason other than I can, I'm going to talk about them now.
Clowny Island: Set in a weird theme park on an island in the middle of the ocean. Has a build-your-own-roller-coaster mini-game, and another, more surreal mini-game where you must feed the heads on Mount Rushmore. Contains one of the most amusing lines in all of video gaming: "Please do not harass the chicken." Also, you get to drive a hot dog.
Paint Misbehavin': A Rome-themed level, which isn't all that peculiar, except for the tiny little detail called the HoverSplat. Being? A paintball-firing chariot that lets you paint the landscape all sorts of crazy colors! You can even paint the sheep, and depending on what color you paint them, they do different things. Yellow ones break, break, breakdance!
Mine Blowing: Fairly nondescript, and set in--surprise--a mine. Has the obligatory mine cart ride, but with robotic clowns. Coulrophobes should not play this game. Also has a bit with exploding gemstones that is almost begging to be made into a puzzle mini-game.
Arabian Flights: Great level--think the Jetsons meets Aladdin. Big and colorful, with a magic carpet you can fly everywhere around the level. (Heck, it's the only way to get around!) The flying carpet is just fun to ride around... WOOSH! But a little hard to steer, as the fact that I have not yet gotten the "Ring Trial" ticket for this level yet.
Pyramid Scheme: An Incan/Mayan pyramid that can swap between sunny and lava-filled! The sunny side has great music, but the lava side has the GliderBike, which may be the most wicked cool side-vehicle ever. It's a motorcycle! With bat wings! That you can glide around in! I love swooping over the lava in this...
Food Fright: A horror level combined with a candy level? "Sure, why not!" said the game programmers. And it was. May be my favorite level! It has milkshake rivers, chocolate platforms, gooey marshmallow enemies, and plenty of toxic green slime, too. Also has an amusing glitch in it. In one part of the level, there are large round peppermint candies you can pick up in your tractor beam. If you take them outside their little area to one of the suspended chocolate platforms, and jump in the right way, you can get the chocolate platform between yourself and the pappermint--and roll around on top of the platform, controlling the candy! It's so cool.
So there's a little deviation on one of my favorite games. That is also tragically short. Ah, but, c'est la video games!
