I like a variety of music. Mostly rock though, ranging from bands like SOAD to TMBG to even Japanese bands like the pillows.

All Alternative Rock, Emo Rock, Indie Rock, and Alternative Metal stuff sometimes (like SOAD).
Like Jimmy Eat World (their old stuff), Coheed and Cambria, System of a Down, Strike Four....all that jazz.

Punk rock. Ska. The occasional dose of goth metal. Dark rock. Medium-heavy metal (NOT NOT NOT METALLICA NEVER NO).

- theSTART
- The Aquabats
- Reel Big Fish
- Evanescence or however you spell that because I'm too lazy to look
- Linkin Park, sometimes
- No Doubt

Basically, if it's on the radio or ever has been on the radio, I'm bound to hate it. Oh well.

Well, you do know the last three of that list have all gotten heavy radio airplay at one time. :p BTW, I actually downloaded a couple songs from theSTART, since they were in my mind because of your obsession, and the description of them on AMG kinda intrigued me. Good stuff!

Anyway, as for me, I listen to A LOT of different stuff, but I'd say a good bulk of my tastes are rooted in classic rock, indie, progressive (classic period Yes and Genesis especially) and metal (which I used to be obsessed with but got burned out on recently).

I don't know anything about how to categorize rock music, but I like it best. Rock music, that is.

Art rock, alt rock, and indie rock. Metal is okay too. Anything except pop I can stomach.

Ska. Punk. Skunk.

Props to Myrrh for liking that stuff.

I detest rock opera, though.

Awww... You don't like Rock Operas? (It's not really a genre, but I'll let it slide)

What about half of the songs by The Who? Or Bohemian Rhapsody? You don't like those?

For the record, my favorite bands are...

They Might Be Giants
Straylight Run (I never hear anyone talking about them...they're kinda emo-ish, I guess)
Weird Al
Good Charlotte
Jimmy Eat World
Avril Lavigne
Evanescence
Green Day

I've also liked what I've heard from blink-182, Eisley, Reel Big Fish, and Death Cab For Cutie.

It's kind of annoying...the kids in my music class had no idea who TMBG were until I told them (after playing a bit of Experimental Film).

I don't really know how to categorize the music I like, so I will post some examples of great bands.

System of a Down
Tool
They Might Be Giants
A Perfect Circle
Rush
Led Zepplin

I also like to listen to Classical, Opera, and Jazz. Basically everything that isn't close to Hip-hop or Country.

John Lennon. Paul McCartney. George Harrison. Ringo Starr.

The greatest musicians ever!

I can actually find something to appreciate about any kind of music. I have favorites in most genres.
My current favorite singer is Idina Menzel, she's my hero. :p

Hey! Straylight Run rocks. My favorite song from them has to be Sunrise Highway, the last one on their album.

I mostly listen to progressive metal. Bands that are relatively unknown in mainstream music are usually the best. I was missing out on so much back in high school. Unfortunately, I find progressive metal albums are a bit scarce.

I dunna like the Who. Bohemian Rhapsody is borderline for me. I don't really like it, but I can handle it.

BTG, I don't like Pink Floyd either.

What really turned me off of that kinda music is when I was doing my radio show this past Tuesday, and my boss (who's like this goth/Satanist type guy) came in and made me play a whole Nightwish CD. That was the straw that broke the llama's back.

O_O HOW DO YOU SURVIVE?

Seriously. I practically live offa Pink Floyd and The Who...and Led Zeppelin...and Yes...and such. Mostly Pink Floyd...but not Queen. I am in no way shape or form a Queen fan (which is a surprise, seeing as I like to randomly belt out an off key "We are the Champions).
