Has anyone heard of Weird Al?
He's a really funny Parody Song writer.

Yeah, I've heard a few of his songs (Polkamon, The Night Santa Went Crazy, Angry White Boy Polka...). He's pretty good.

Why, yes, my friend. I have heard of Weird Al Yanko-VIC. Some stuff on the list isn't actually by Al, though. Check this list.
http://www.com-www.com/weirdal/notbyal.html

So, I'd replace "Ugly Girl" and "My name is Darth Vader" with a few others. Try "Ebay", or "I think I'm a clone now", or any of the Polka ones, "Angry White Boy Polka" being my personal favourite.

Anyways, Weird Al is, without a doubt, THE greatest parody song writer in the world. A few come close, like Bob Rivers, but none can match the great Yankovic. It's a shame he hasn't got any videos for Poodle Hat, though. I would have loved to have seen a "couch potato" video, spoofing 8-mile, or a video that makes fun of Avril "I admit that I am a chronic moron, but still think I'm not a poser" Lavigne. If only he did a Homestar tribute song somehow...
Oh, and check the rest of the site as well. It'll give you some info on the lyrics and other stuff, like translations of Yiddish/Mexican/French words on songs, or what the songs actually parody. It also has a sweet tribute page to Al's late parents.
Now....guess the song of the lyric.

"My scars are all healing, but my heart never will."
"His buddy Bubba was a shrimp-lovin' man, his friend with no legs he called Lieutenant Dan".
"Think you're really rightous? Think you're pure at heart? Well, I know I'm a million times as humble as thou art!"

My favourite Al song is Everything You Know is Wrong. I voted for Eat It. That one's great too.

My favorite Al songs, by far, are his original ones, not his parodies.

He's funny! My favorite is "Constipated", making fun of the Avril Lavigne song "Complicated"! Why'd I have to go and get myself decapitated?

Actually, I think the song's called "A complicated Song", but I'll need to check on that. It's good to see there are other Al fans around.

I have an idea: Buy the music if you enjoy it.

Jones, while you're correcting topic titles, you should change "Yankovich" to "Yankovic" :P

Ack, a Yahoo! link. The Popular Search Engine Google will crush it!

Er..

Anyway, yeah, Wesley Willis is cool and I was sad when he died. I love his endorsements.

Ahh yeah? I just found this the most oppurtune time to tell my stupid joke.
"Weird Al" Yankovic's "The Rye or the Kaiser: Theme from Rocky XIII" begins with "fat and weak, what a disgrace"
I dunno who the Rye is but it seems more like Strong Sad than the Kaiser! If you think it is NOT stupid, tell me. If you think it IS stupid, boo me.

Albuquerque by far is his greatest work. I mean, who can argue with this?

"....
'No! We're out of bear claws!'
I said 'Well, in that case - in that case, what do you have?'
He says 'All I got right now is this box of one dozen starving, crazed weasels'
I said 'OK, I'll take that'"

I voted for Smells like Nirvana. It was a great song, really hit it home to the Nirvana song. And because really, "Well it sures beats raising cattle"

Out of those, Saga Begins is the only one I've heard. However, my overall favourite;

Poor Peter Parker was pitiful
Couldn't be any shyer

Can't exactly remember the name, though.. had it memorized at one point, though. The song, not the name.

My parents hired MTV to be my babysitter for most of my early life, so I did get a little dose of the Weird Al. His videos actually make the parodies funnier... ah...those were the days...

...when MTV actually played videos instead of "I'm a spoiled whiny rich kid in high school" or "which one is the gay guy?"

I've actually met the man before, and let me tell you, what a nice nice person. (Have you ever met a mean vegetarian?) I think I had to go pick up a Caesar Salad for him or something...that's the glamour of being a radio intern.

I can't stay on point. I'll go now.

I think the angry white boy polka is great. Weird Al is the only person that can pull off all the songs in that without ruining them.

You left out my favorite song... I my favorite songs are, "I Think I'm a Clone Now" off of his "Even Worse" album (the same one as "Fat", and "Lasagna"), and "Another One Rides the Bus. Anyone who has ever ridden the Inner Loop Shuttle (at Western KY University) up the hill from the PFT stop at 9 in the morning can visualize the perfect music video for that song.

As far as the ones on your poll, I pick "Smells like Nirvana"... Great stuff!

I love "Amish Paradise" and "Pretty Fly For a Rabbi", but I voted for "Eat It"...I think that was the first Weird Al song I experienced

Anyone seen UHF? They played it a few times on HBO a few months ago...It's one of my favorites :p

I remember I was first exposed to Weird Al Yankovic in 5th grade -- by our teacher, still one of the best I've ever had (I still even check up on him every few years -- that's how cool this guy was :P). I don't remember what the first song I heard was, but I remember "lasagna" most distinctly, as he would usually put that on the end of whatever videos he made that he'd show us (or at least the end of the parody videos that every class of his did once a year).

It was also in his class that I was introduced to Calvin and Hobbes, not to mention The Far Side. More teachers need to be like this guy.

One of my favourites was the Spy Hard theme song that parodies Tom Jones , especially the ending. Also his Saddam Hussain song was good.

All of his songs are great, I love the part in Albuquerque where he says
"You know, I think it was just about that time that a little ditty started goin' through my head. I believe it went a little something like this . . .
Doh Get 'em off me Get 'em off me Oh No, get 'em off, get 'em off!!"
LO friggin' L!! The great thing about Albuquerque is that it actually seems to flow even though it's just a beat in the background and Al talking. Almost makes me wanna post all of the lyrics. Another great one is "It's All about the pentiums" especially if your a computer geek.
"Yeah, payin' the bills with my mad programming skills
Defraggin' my hard drive for thrills
I got me a hundred gigabytes of RAM"
