Dagon here is talking about the Xbox 360's (sorry, Dagon, but you're the only person who's gonna call it the "full circle") power supply, which.. well, here's a comparison (courtesy of Joystiq): |

Well, the good thing about the power supply is that it can be customized.

Wow, that thing IS huge. Thanks Bones. I had no clue what he was talking about. It looks like a smaller version of the power supplies I've used with spotlights. Why on earth is that thing so big? |

I have always been confused by the ideas that come out of Microsoft. |

Heh heh heh. MORE overheating problems from the Xbox line? Didn't they learn their lesson with the meltdowns on the first one? |

well ramrod is "Sorta" right, except that noone complained about the origional Xbox's size, they just made the power brick outside of the Machine because they wanted to make the Xbox 360(FullCircle) smaller and quiet, so the only way to do that was to put the power brick outside. as most of you know, the PS2 sometimes makes a aweful clicking noise because of the fans. The Powerbrick, however, makes the FullCircle as quiet as a mouse on a tempurpedic bed. |

What? The original Xbox was huge. Everyone complained about it. That's half the reason it tanked so badly in Japan. |

I don't know why everyone would care about the size, it's meant to be stationary. If people think things like size matter, then they obviously aren't buying consoles so they can play video games... |

Well, say you want to move your console somewhere else (upstairs or downstairs maybe). If you have a large system, there's a lot of effort to get that up or down there. And controllers can't be big; that's not just an inconvience (sp?), that's a major gameplay problem. |

The Xbox 360 controller isn't that big. I played with one at Target. I don't like Microsoft. And about the power supply — I don't think I would want that sitting on the floor in front of my TV. It's just ugly. And big. |

well its ugly, Butt-Ugly, it looks like someone beat it with an ugly stick. well, the thing about the power supply.... to keep it from overheating, you should take a box with an open top and put it over that open top of the box, thatway it doesnt overheat....or just tie a coupla strings to it and hang it up from the ground, it needs constant air going through it to cool it down. |

Actually, when it comes to consoles, size matters. For instance, one of the main reasons why the original XBox didn't sell well in Asian markets was because of its size and bulkiness. Hence why the XBox 2pi is so much less manly looking than the original. As for the power supply, well, that's just too big. I think Gates made the power supply have a secret explosive device in it, so if you try and hack the 2pi, it'll self-detonate. |

I've heard horror stories of someone leaving a Slim PS2 on all night. But the myth seems false. Though the slim ones don't have much of a cooling system.... |

That was the old Xbox power cord. They were recalled. No need to worry. |

You can't really even turn them off unless they are unplugged anyways.... |

Yes, if you buy the model with the hard drive. If you don't get the one with the hard drive, you have to buy the drive to play the old games, as I understand it. |

Only if you get one with a hard drive. The core model can't emulate the old games. |

well in that case.. im shoving out $400 for the whole thing.. or was it $499 for the whole thing? |

The good one is 499$. I'd get it, the cheap one has no memory thing so you'll end up buying a memory card anyways (that'd push the price up to 440$ or something). |
