Let's make our own Sonic game. We must add the four teams from Sonic Heroes.
Ok, let's think of what Level 1 should be.

Should Lava Hill Zone be a good idea?
(A mixture of Green Hill Zone and Lava Reef Zone)

Is this for those old 2-D games or the 3-D ones?

Nah, I think he means that we'll just post our ideas here.

The physics in Sonic games are hard to replicate, but I have seen one guy do it amazingly well in flash. Unfortunately, the actual game itself wasn't great.

Flash isn't a good tool for making complex 2D games. Actionscript is confusing and complicated. One of the best is Multimedia Fusion for 2D games(recommend starting off on the Games Factory and working your way up though) and Darkbasic for 3D games.

I know MMF can't do Sonic physics too well, but people have already figured it out and offered their code for free on SFGHQ(which apart from things like that, is a sucky place that never finishes games anymore because they get so uber techical about everything).

That's already been done.

We begin with Hill Top Zone, then.
The two acts will have lava in both and with a fork-in-the-road.
What should be the mission for Team Chaotix?
(Teh other 3 teams go to the Gold ring)
[Yes, KISS, we will make this game]

Team Chaotix should have to find 4 small babies, then throw them into a lake.

Missions over if they fall in the lava!

A LAKE in a LAVA zone???
Impossible.
And that's a Peasant's Quest rip-off.
Any other missions for Hill Top Zone Act 1?

You could rip Ideas off of this guys version. But there still needs to be someone with flash or whatever to actually do this

Sorry Clan, but I think this belongs in Arts and Crafts. Not only that, I have a question. Are you just trying to make a sonic Game and get other people to do the whole thing? Or do you have some ideas of your own? Sorry to be so unorganized, but your title is a little hard to understand.

Flash is just not the right program to do this in. As you could see with that sonic game KISS gave a link to, it's just too slow and normal computers can't handle it.

We should probably do it in a different language. Just don't ask me to do it, I'm not that great in C.

Would java be a better choice?

About the speed of the game in that link, if you put it on small screen it will go alot smoother.

Here's the link for the small screen one if anyone cares:

No, Java isn't a great graphics handling language, and its strength is mainly on the web, we would probably want to make it as a download and play on your computer game. I'll look into good choices. C or C++ still seems to be the best choice. We could just find an open source game and change it as we see fit.

It's still very slow for me, but that may have to do with the fact that Macromedia totally skimped on their Linux people.

I still think they're jerks for doing that...

Use gamemaker!
I am using it for mine and it is terrific! It takes about a day to learn though.

We're gonna make it with all of our ideas.
Hill Top Zone Act 1 Missions:
Team Sonic: Get to the Goal Ring
Team Dark: Get to the Goal Ring
Team Rose: Get to the Goal Ring
Team Chaotix: ???????

EDIT: I have ideas for the zone descriptions and the order of each zone. Also the Hill Top Zone boss will be The Lava Checker Wrecker Ball. The Checker Wrecker Ball is coated in lava and has faster rolling speed, and here's how many hits:
Team Rose: 6 hits
Team Sonic: 8 hits
Team Chaotix: 8 hits
Team Dark: 12 hits

C or C++ is a terrible idea as I doubt anyone is good enough.

Try using Multimedia Fusion or something. But you'll still never get teams working, too messy and why would you want to do that anyway? Sonic works best alone.

Somebody please map Act 1 of Hill Top Zone with Goal Ring for Teams Sonic,Dark, and Rose. Maps begin now. It must have a fork-in-the-road with lava at the left or land at the right.

Also, any ideas for Team Chaotix's mission in Act 1?

I think you're getting a little bit too ambitious with your ideas, we aren't that great at C or C++.

Good idea, um. Let's make Act 1's mission for Team Chaotix Homestar-related just for the fun of it.
