How many things do you do a certain way for no other reason than because your parents do it that way?

I'm not talking about major things, like political views, religion, occupation, etc.

I'm talking about minor, everyday things that, if you did them differently, would have almost no effect on your life.

I'll give you an example of this; Today, after I filled up the soap dispenser in my bathroom, I put it back on the right side of the sink. I always do it this way. My parents do, too. I was thinking about why I did it, and realized that the only reason is because I grew up in houses where it was like that. Ditto for toilet paper on the dispenser.

Another example (in the kitchen): I was putting up some groceries. I put a can of cooking spray in the cabinet above the stove. While I suppose this makes sense, as you need it when you're using the stove, it would make as much sense to put it in the cabinet next to the stove (where Holly puts it). I asked her about that, and her answer, "My mom always put it there"..

So, yeah, how many of the things you do everyday are done because someone else you know does it that way?

Well, I dunno...

I'm pretty religeous about rolling pennies, when ever I get a hundred I immediatly roll 'em up. I guess I get it from my Dad...

Another one that isn't really one but I'll say anyways is whenever we eat something with gravy, when I'm done eating I get a piece of bread and put gravy on it. It's good. I got that from my dad too.

I have something from my dad that's simialar to MK's.

Everytime we eat spaghetti, I soak up the leftover sauce with my bread. Yum.

Is it just me, or does everyone do that (including me)?

I don't do that. Or make sandwiches.

Frickin' weirdos.

:p

I like lunch meat, though. Maybe I picked that up from my dad. Or does everyone like lunch meat? I'm confused...

I take after my mum the most. We're both kinda lazy; she whines a lot, I whine a lot, she's in the union and shouts a lot, I argue on internet message boards.

Post subject:  Meh.

Apparently my basic habits are just like Dad's.

And my tastes in music.

More'n half of my iTunes Library are songs that I picked up from him.

My dad is bald with a thick beard. I have always had a full head of naturally curly hair that I have to keep cut really short just to make it manageable, and I can't grow facial hair to save my life (well, just enough to make my face look dirty).

My dad is a huge fan of both kinds of music (that's Country and Western, for those of you who haven't seen The Blues Bros). Me, I'm into Faunky FREEEEEESTYYYYYYLE!!

My dad has always been a big outdoors type. I'm a hot geek type dude.

I look like my parents, I talk like them, Im really noisy like my parents (We go online and look at the houses for sale with pools....he..he) And Im really whimey......I have no idea where I get that from....

How can you be a hot geek? Geeks are not hot as far as I'm concerned! Except for in school when I was roleplaying about bulleying. The popular girl told everyone that I liked the geek named Pubert. That was weird, but if I knew a guy named Pubert, I'd love him!

Y'all are going into more major things than I had intended, but, yea, still some good stuff.

I thought of another thing I do like my parents. When I put the toilet paper on the roller thing, I always put it so it hangs off the back of the roll, not the front..
There's really no reason for me to do it that way.

Those little things that make no real difference are kinda what I meant in this thread..

Ooh, I've got one: Whenever I put banana slices on my breakfast cereal I always cut it exactly like my mom did. First I cut down the middle of the banana, and then cut it in slices, so I have lots of half-moon-shaped slices.

I'm a lot like my Dad. The other day I noticed a trait that worried me though. When he gets up in the morning, he makes a lot of noise. I mean he breathes really heavily and groans, and shuffles about like a zombie. Lately, I've been doing the same thing. I make the exact same morning noises as my Dad. This is troubling, because I always used to make fun of the way he sounded when he woke up. >_<
