I may be the only one to notice, but . . . isn't 42 the address of the "club" at the end of the fifth book?

I mean, I checked every source (as in I google'd it), and didn't find any one with similar ramblings.

1--Well, saying what the book is is really unnecessary. If you've read the book, you would instantly know what I was talking about. If someone didn't know what the book was, then they wouldn't be able to answer the question, so . . .

2--The question?!?! The question?!?! Well . . . the question . . . uh . . . my first post sorta suggested it. Referring to the Dirk Gently series, everything is interconnected. And that club was the meeting place of people who had had an effect in so many places, possibly even upon the universe itself (when they saved it with Deep Thought), therefore it really WOULD be the answer to Life and the Universe.

And plus, there is no question. 42 is also the answer to Everything. It's fun to answer a question you don't know with that, especially in Math when people don't know you're referring to it.

No, the question as far as we know is "What do you get if you multiply six by nine", but even that we're not sure about.

If you know both the question and the answer, they will cancel out and the universe will become more bizarre and explicable than it already is

There's a theory which says that this has already happened.

There's a theory that both the previous two theories were created by the editor of the HHGTTG, which makes sense because that's the only known book in existence with the words "Don't Painic" inscribed in large, friendly letters on the front cover.

Yes, I noticed the club's address the first time I read it. I guess the club relates to the question in some way, since it's where everything comes together and ends. I'm pretty sure the "multiply six by nine" answer was false, since Arthur wasn't a natural part of the program.

Egh. You're almost half right.

You can't remake a movie that doesn't exist. Nor can we "actually see" a movie that doesn't exist. There was a BBC miniseries, but there has never been a film. Now there is, being produced by Buena Vista (i.e. Disney), directed by Hammer & Tongs, and screenwritten by Kerry Kirkpatrick (Chicken Run, James and the Giant Peach). It's set to be released next summer. The offical blog has some really great reading.

For those of you not unhealthily obsessed with the number 42, you may be interested to hear that Radio 4 is releasing a new version of the Hitchhiker's Guide text adventure, this time with brand new illustrations.

For those poor souls who never got a chance to play the text adventure, fear not, you can still do so via the marvels of modern technology.

Oh! Ok, thank you IJ, becuase when I saw it I was young and I didn't know it was a T.V series, I just thought it was a movie. Thanks for pointing that out to me.

I never understood the whole Kewpie Dan thing.

TBC are good at making up names. Like Professor Tor Coolguy and Senor Cardgage Morgage. That's one of my favorite things about H*R--they're very original.

No one can send an e-mail to them saying "My name is Strong Bad too and I am so like him, I call all my friends stupid and answer e-mails on my computer!"

That must be very annoying. (But I digress.)

I've got to re-read the book. I left my big book of the whole series at home and the local library doesn't carry it. :sad:

. I saw the tv series first. I didn't read the book till much later. I remember the text game. I don't think I got very far.

The original screenplay for the movie was written by Douglas Adams himself, prior to his death (er, obviously). The screenplay is being adapted (not rewritten from scratch), and hopefully they'll be following as closely as possible. Of course they're leaving most of the humor up to Adams.
