Hey, remember when the homestar site stopped showing its custom 404'd page? Around that time, my own website stopped showing its own custom 404 page as well. Was there some sort of world-wide 404 bug going on at the time that we didn't know about? I see that the homestar and my own 404 pages are back up now (*big sigh of relief* :homsar: )

Did anyone else notice their own 404 pages disappearing for a few months?

yours, socetew :ehsteve:

I never saw the 404'd page down. I use AOL, but I don't think that's the problem.

Good for you.

If I remember correctly, all the 404 pages were working fine for me way back then.

How could this happen? Much more likely are:
1. Your computer.
2. The website.
3. IJ trolling the wiki.

The internet, or any kind of page on the internet, will NEVER completely go down. Or maybe I read this wrong.

Yeah. I tried to use firefox, but i got tired of the program having to start up each time i wanted to open a new window, as opposed to just being able to open a My Computer window and type in an address (since EXPLORER.EXE is always running).

I also got tired of not being able to use standard BHO objects in firefox.

Um... why would you want to open a new window in Firefox? That's what tabs are for.

And anyway, I don't get your "having to start up each time" bit. Go to File and New Window (or just press Ctrl+N) to open a new window. It takes about half a second.

And there's no such thing as a "standard" BHO object, because BHOs are propreitary to IE, and generally only useful to spyware publishers.

Uh, when you see percentages go from 3 and 7 to 17 and 8 in one day, you get a little suspicious.

As far as I know, we don't have any way to mess with the results of polls...perhaps the results are genuine...makes sense to me...

For the record, Mods can't change poll results. We can change poll options (i.e. we could remove an option entirely), but in order to change the results one would have to go into MySQL and change the tables directly. I think. At any rate, we have no motivation to tinker with poll results, even ones which directly affect the main page of the Wiki. The Wiki belongs to you guys, not us.

Wait.. how did we get so off-topic?
