I'm sure you've got some really obscure obsession that no one's ever heard of. Attempt to drag others into your fandom to alleviate the loneliness. =B

I've got a few, but the biggest one is a pc game called Sacrifice. This game is a major thing for me. The sad thing is, though, that in the 5-ish years that I've loved this game, I've only met about 3 or 4 other people who have ever even heard of it. Only one of them played it. (And he was about as crazy about it as I was, woohoo! Unfortunately, I had the oppertunity to talk to him only once. Blahhh.)
But this game is friggin' amazing. Don't let the "For 18+" tag fool you --the only "mature" thing about this game is the sophisticated plot/characters/writing and the OPTIONAL blood and gore. (But it's about WAR, so that stuff's to be expected, no?)

My favorite dialogues:
Charnel: "Kill the blasphemer!"
Persephone: "Charnel! Death is not the answer to everything!"
Charnel: "Hmm, yes. Torture also has its merits."

(Charnel is the God of Death and Persephone is the Goddess of Life, just so y'know. =B)

James: "I never should have trusted you, Stratos."
Stratos: "That's right, you shouldn't have."

Eldred: *Talking about dragons* "...My heart fell at the thought of slaying so magnificent a creature."
Zyzyx: "Oh, but imp slavery. He's fine with that." *is an imp*

I've heard of that game.

I have a couple things like that. The most prominenet one is a bit...innapropriate*. But another one is my addiction to Super Mario Bros. Level editor. I have about 14 levels completed and 2 more in the works. But, whenever I show anyone they're either like, I don;t care or whatever.

I have an addiction to monster games. You know, games like Pokèmon, where you get monster allies and fight with them and go on quests and stuff. I've played who knows how many of them, but the mere promise of monster allies is usually enough to sell me. But two of them are so awesome I love them to the point of fandom.

One of them is called DemiKids for Game Boy Advance. It's based on the Shin Megami Tensei RPG series. It's remarkable for having lots of monsters, and for the fact that the Light and Dark versions were actually really different. They had different plots, different monsters, some entirely different towns, and different fusing mechanics for demons/relics. You can see (almost) all the monsters at this page and this one! Some of the Guides are missing, is Lord Sha, for some really weird reason.

The other was called Li'l Monster for Game Boy Color, and was really different from most monster games. It had a unique battle system/monster regeneration system, although the whole thing was almost sickeningly cute. It was far too short, too. Thought I replay it often. Its main problems were, aside from the shortness, the fact that you couldn't have more than one monster, and the fact that I STILL don't know how to get the last two monsters. Do you know that I have had dreams about finding the "lost levels" in this game, with the keys to unlocking the final two monsters? My favorite monster is Libby for some reason even though she's a fairly nondescript bunny rabbit, but other cool monsters were Helion (a teal dragon with a purple mane), Kabara (an adorable hedgehog/beetle thing), and Akua (an aquatic dog/goat). I am forever looking for another copy of this, so I can link up with it and finally get the three gems I'm missing in my first game. (^%$ Dowser, ^#@^ MinHand, ^$#@^ DrgnScl...)

Yes! I knew I've heard of DemiKids! I've never actually played it, but that's pretty much because the only place I've ever seen it in my life was one of my old gaming magazines. It looked pretty cool.

I know how you feel about monster games. Pokemon, Monster Rancher, Jade Cocoon, Digimon World.... *goes on and on* I love them all. And I get so attatched to my monsters, too. I know they're just pixels, but....

Speaking of Monster Ranchers...I used to really like this Monster ranchers card game thing for Playstation. What was really cool about it was you could actually put CDs and games into the Playstation and you'd get different cards. I know I get -5 coolness for this but seriously, it rocked.

Again, no one seems to care or know about it.

EDIT: And let's not forget Legend of Mana, the best game in the Mana series.

I've heard of the card game. It never sounded that interesting, but then again- I haven't seen it in action.

I'm more into raising the actual monsters. That is fun, though for a while I was only raising Suezos. (Uh, they're my favorite. xD) I had some killer Suezos, man. They'd pwn you in just one attack. w00t. *nerd*

I have an exceedingly pwnsome Suzurin named Carol in Monster Rancher Advance 2. I likes me Suzies. ^_^ Too bad their fusion forms are sort of lame... And in Monster Rancher 4, my best friend Glenn has his really cool Joker named Loki. I also like Mocchi, Phoenix, and Mogi. And Pixies sometimes too if they're not dressed like y-all-know-whats, which some actually are.

Monster Rancher card game? I've played the GBC version, which was pretty fun, but filled with so much Engrish it was like a throwback to the days of strong wellings, thanks a millions, and true peace in space.

Never played Jade Cocoon, though I heard it wasn't bad t'all.

That show is CRACK. So it's for preschoolers, so what? It's a living cartoon. As can be expected, I very rarely meet anyone my age (...almost 20...) who likes. You know, internet aside. I did, however, get a guy in my dorms last semester hooked to it but eh ... he really only like Sportacus. Gay guys tend to have the hots for him =p

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

One of my favorite novels. Written by my favorite author, Charles Lutwidge Dodgeson A.K.A Lewis Carrol.

Everyone I talk to about this book have a tendency to say, "Isn't it that one cartoon done by Walt Disney? Isn't for children?"

While the book itself is perhaps one of the greatest writings of abstract fiction on earth.

Too true. That's one of my favorite books ever. While I like the animated film, the book just ... it's just so ... Well, you've read it, you know ^^

While people who like things expressly because they're "obscure" seriously irk me, here's one: ElfQuest. It's a little known comic series that's been running since 1977. I cannot express in words how fantastic it is. I started accumulating the graphic novels (i.e. the comics collected involumes) when I was a kid and managed to collect the first 13 or so. They lay dormant for a few years while I was off turning into a quasi-adult, but recently I picked them up again and they're every bit as brilliant as I remember.

Anyway, I'm not posting this to say, "Hah, I love this comic that none of you have ever heard of." I'd be very pleased if someone raised their hand and professed even a passing familiarity with it. Rather, I'm saying, "Even if you're not really a comic reader--I'm certainly not--check out ElfQuest. It's really worth your time." If you're any sort of fantasy fan, it's every bit as engrossing as Tolkien or Lewis.

Lizzie McGuire ended due to Disney's 65 episode rule. Television shows producted by Disney for a long time got a mere 65 episodes in their line-up -- afterwards, the series ended. Lizzie McGuire, Even Stevens, Kim Possible ... they all were ended (not cancelled -- cancelled indicates that the series is supposed to continue on longer).

Kim Possible, however, is getting more episodes due to the massively successful petitioning, e-mailing a snail mailing to Disney, begging them to continue the series. Season four should be premiering late this year/early next year.

Lizzie McGuire fans had a similar petition, but online petitions rarely do any good without persistance and some sort of real-life ad, as well (for example, actually mailing the company, which is what KP fans did).

In short, it wasn't cancelled. It was always intended to last 65 episodes. Cancellation means ending production before it's intended to finish.

As for ElfQuest ... talk about a blast from the past! I remember reading some of that in gradeschool ... Been racking my brain trying to remember what the comic was called since then. Thanks man! Now I just need like ... money. To buy it.

Futurama.

In my opinion, Futurama is the best cartoon ever made. However, it was treated poorly by FOX, so nobody got to see it, so its ratings were low. Therefore, it was cancelled. (I think it's technically "on hiatus", but it's been that way for years now. I think that by now it qualifies as a cancellation.) What's really sad is that nobody seems to have heard of it. Heck, I didn't even hear about it until I saw an ad for it on Adult Swim. That was at some point during "Season 5" (there were only 4 seasons produced, but FOX aired them as 5 seasons...there were 72 episodes total). Most of the kids at my school who have even heard of Futurama heard about it from me. (Though there are some cool older kids who watch it.)

Also, They Might Be Giants and Bonus Stage. I'm, like, the only TMBG fan in my class, and when I dressed up as Rya for "Dress Up As A Fictional Character Day" at my school, everyone thought I was Raggedy Anne.

So yeah, they all need more recognization.

The Twelve Kingdoms is a good anime that nobody knows about but me. I get the DVDs for free from my Big Sister's brother. See, it's about this schoolgirl in Japan, and she's actually the queen of a country in some sort of... other dimension... and then one day this guy comes and takes her through a portal to that place, and it's all... yeah...

Hey, I LOVE Futurama. I didn't think it was very obscure, though. I know a bunch of people at my school that like it, as well. There were quite a few pushing for our Sci-Fi teacher to let us show an episode or two on the last day of the semester.

And about people liking things because they're obscure: I tend to fall in love with things that no one else has heard of like it's a friggin' curse. Fortunately, there are many popular cartoons and games I adore as well, so my world isn't completely lonely.

On Jade Cocoon: It was kinda more like Pokemon than Monster Rancher, in that you have to capture monsters using your starter, a little blue dragon. But there was a bit more of a plot and your main character can actually fight the minions himself if he wants.

So, I assume no one here has played Sacrifice? *cries*

It really makes me sad that barely anyone has heard of my current 2 favorite games for the GCN...Killer7 and Eternal Darkness: Sanitys Requeim. I made topics for both of these games here and no one replyed >.>

It's really sad, Killer7 was such a stange, trippy expereince...and It's stangely enough the only that ever made me cry. The tripple-twist ending made NO SENSE (Unless you read the guide). Even though I diden't know what happened, It shocked me, scared the Heck outa me, and made me feel depressed for a week (seriously)

And Eternal Darkness...Well, Chocolardiac arrest, this seems like the kind of game you would drool over. It's pretty much H.P. Lovecraft the game. Almost all the plot is taken from H.P Lovecrafts storys with names changes around.

Oh, where to begin on this great game? Well, First and foremost: in the Lovecraftian style, the monsters are so freakin undescribeable and monsterious when your character sees them his/her "Sanity Bar" goes down, and you begin to hallucinate. Some of the things I've seen happen include
-Ants, Spiders and flys crawling over the screen
-Hallways begin to twist and morph
-It appears I'm in quicksand...but I'm not....
-Suddenly all the NPCs appear to be horrific monsters out to kill me.
-Walls Bleeding Yay!
-Getting the windos "Blue screen on death"

And the plot, OH the plot...It takes place over endless years, begining in the roman times and ending in 2000. You start out in 2000, reading peoples diarys you find, flashing back to those people and playing as them to unravel parts of the plot...

And The magic...You'd find Magical "Runes" with latin words incribed into them. Then you must find a book to translate them. To create a spell you must combine a Verb with a Noun and a Alighment. For example...I "Summon" "Creature" under the power of "Xleototh". And once accomplished you are surronded with shine symbals on the ground and a voice will chant out the spell.

Ah, and the Paranoia. I swear this game is cursed. After beating it everywhere I looked I saw the number 333. It's really freaking me out. Several spots I've noticed:

I downloaded the numa numa dance song and it was 3.33 Megabytes.

I Beat Mario and luigi SSS and the amount of coins I had were 333.

Almost everyday after I log onto the internet I look at the clock and its ARGH 3:33

A week after beating it, for 3 days in a row my cats woke me up begging for food and 3:33 (NOT EVEN kidding about this one. I was almost sure this game is cursed)

Freaky...If you own a GCN you owe it yourself to get these.

One of my best friends just went on and on about Eternal Darkness about a month or so ago. He kept talking about how scary and awesome it was. Kinda made me want to play it, but I don't think I have the game system for it. From the way he described it, though, it DID sound pretty awesome. I loved the sanity bar thing. That is a really cool concept.



Yeah, some of them are pretty cool. My school's kinda messed up, though.

I don't think it's that no one likes/liked it. It's just been out of the spot light for so long no one cares anymore.

Another thing I just remembered was that Power Rangers game for the SNES. That game ruled! But again, no one knows about it for some reason.
