I've never actually played "the real thing", but I read Order of the Stick and play KoL, WarCraft III, Ultima Online, etc.
I like fantasy, but I've never played the real thing.

What classes do we have? (so I can decide on one)

Author:  Choc-o-Lardiac Arrest [ Sat Feb 04, 2006 2:43 am ]
Post subject:

Okay, you got all of the Main Classes in the most recent Players handbook, but im using the old 2nd Edition Advanced Dungeons&Dragons Players handbook,(its mainly the same thing), i will allow Prestige Classes, and i will post up some other classes taht i have here in my DM guide. now then, its your guys's Choice to play weather using the Basic Dungeons And Dragons Era, or Play it like D20 Modern,(its the same system, just in cities, Alien Planets, And Guns)

okay? get your Character Sheets Ready, Because its gonna be a Helluva Campaign.

Wait, so a d&d forum game? Yay!
I vote for teh old school fantasy. No stupid guns or cities. We shall fight without tasers or starships. I mean, what's the fun of battling a dragon if you have a plasma cannon?
Aside from the obvious coolness factor, I mean.

Actually, not Plasma Guns or anything, but Bullet guns, the kind of guns we see today, except in a 10 year ahead of us campaign, involving the First Colonized City on the Moon. but we will vote on it once we start the game.

To be honest, the only thing I've played close to D&D is D20 modern. Which is almost the same thing, right?

My dad's a big D&D fan, so his two sons (myself included) play it with him often. We have a rule that if you roll a 01 while attacking, your weapon malfuctions. During my first game, my half-orc, Cell, had a broken bow string, broken shield strap, an axe that slipped out of his hands, kiling an ally...

My new character, Antonio, is much more lucky.

Actually D&D is one of my least favorite RPGs. I have a whole bookcase of RP crap. Some of my favorites include Fading Sun (Science fiction space dealie) and Elric (Swords and Scorcery game based on the awesome book series of the same name) I actually got into a D&D campaign recently though, so its on my mind at the moment.

How would the d20 srd (3rd edition) help with dnd 2nd edition? The rules changed drastically between second and third editions.

Did I mention how much I hate THACO?

I've got the Chaosium version 5.5 kicking around somewhere. I haven't touched it in a while though.

Lovecraft is very difficult to GM. -Krazed Squirell
