Oh, come on. It was just a joke. We'd know if it was the end. There have been similar endings, as well.

Well, why would they just leave us hanging like that? I don;t honestly think it's the end, but something must be up.

Why would The Simpsons leave us hanging? Because it's what they do. They love to tease the audience like this.

Lots. What happened is at the end Marge, Homer and Bart are all in prison, Lisa says "Well, Maggie. I always knew it would end up just you and me, I'll look for jobs in the morning." then the credits roll.

Uhh.no, it's not the end.

The Season isn't over. There are still other episodes left to air(and to my knowledge)that have nothing to do with jail.

I'm guessing it was just a parody of the last Seinfeld episode. They're no-where near the end of the season, especailly with sweeps comming up.

Man, the thread title made me get my hopes up.

How many times have the family members been in jail now? It's business as usual. More like the end of original ideas on the Simpsons.

Yeah, it was normal Simpsons plot.

As for the ending of The Simpsons in general, it's something that has been rumored since the beginning of time.

This is not the end of the SImpsons. Thank goodness, it's one of the best and longest running programs of all time.

Nah, this isn't the end. It was just a weird ending. I'm sure it'll be back to normal next week.

Exactly right. I'll admit I still get a few laughs when I see newer episodes occasionally, but overall I've sadly lost interest in keeping up with them. They just offer very little new and exciting. I'd imagine this would get a lot more reaction if it wasn't based on such a recycled plot and as many people still cared as passionately about the show as they did years ago.

I suppose it would be weird for those who feel like The Simpsons have always existed when it's not on the air anymore (there's really a lot more people here born in the 90's than I realize sometimes!), but it's definitely long past time now. :(

*suddenly feels nostalgic for Season 4 and might pull out the DVD later today*

Actually, Marge was having a yard sale and Homer was about to go to Vegas when he had to bring Bart to some type of military school. Add in a few new characters that Bart seems to some how know...And that's basically the whole episode.

Actually the Simpsons have been renewed for 2 seasons after this one, and maybe some after that. So there.
