I have to agree with you for the most part, there. Although, for some reason, I like The Biggest Loser. And I thought Hell's Kitchen was good. Maybe it's because I like food.

Yum...food.

The Apprentice. What kind of show is that? First place is a job. WTF? The Amazing Race is pretty good, though. I like to see all of the couples that get lost and have a really difficult time finding something, and then when they find the answer, they realize that they've skipped over it about 20 times, and they've waisted 3 or 4 hours, and they lose. :p

I really detested shows like "Extreme Makeover" or "The Swan" where they take mediocre people and make them beautiful with cosmetic surgery (sp). That is what's wrong with the world. Be happy with who you are, or fix it yourself. Eating right, exercising, that sort of thing. You can't change what God gave you, but you can at least make the best of it. I can understand plastic surgery (sp) if you were born with some disfiguring feature. But for vain purposes, I can't respect that.

I also am rather sick of American Idol. Canadian Idol I enjoy though, because we don't have enough Canadian artists out there, at the moment, and it's good exposure for the Canadian music scene.

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is pretty goof, though. I agree with you, Sakura. The regular version is overrated.

Y'know what show I liked? The Restaurant. I feel utterly alone, but I thought it was really interesting. And not something I'd feel ashamed of saying I watched. Too bad it wasn't so sucessful.

There should be more documentary-style reality shows and less competition. Of course, I don't believe that documentaries are as much of a draw as Survivor.

And by documentary style, I am not referring to Laguna Beach or anything of that sort. More like something to look into the inner workings of the world... something along the lines of The Restaurant... y'know what I mean?

As the popular Homestar Runner quote goes: Yes. Very yes.

I remember the commercials. They really made me angry. There are enough women that feel insecure over their looks and shows like that make things a whole lot worse. What kind of message is it to say, "Why live with your body when you can become skinny, pretty, phony and perfect?" But these messages were around long before The Swan. I could get into my frustration over turning on the TV and everyday seeing the latest diet commercials. I could get into my anger toward the music industry for the focus it places on looks rather than talent. I could get into these things, but I'd be getting off topic and would probably sound like an obsessive feminist.

Anyway, since it took me a minute to actually remember what The Swan was, it's pretty safe to say that it's dead and gone. That being said:

Moving on, I'm quite shocked that reality shows are still profitable. How much old ground has been treaded on, dug up, and made into a grave for originality and creativity? I hear the new season of Survivor is different somehow and it would be a little unfair to make accusations about a show I honestly know nothing about, so I'll leave it alone.

American Idol. Why is this still being aired? Who among the winners has any amount of attention in the music industry? I know for some reason, people can't get enough of Kelly Clarkson. I'm sure the reason for that would be revealed by a simple Google search without filters. It's sad, she really does have a good voice, but it's wasted so much. One of her latest videos, whichever one it is that she's basically making out with herself, proves that point. But, I digress. Simon... Oh, Simon, what a life you must have. You've become such a popular figure merely by spitting out insults. You know what they call people like you in school? Troubled. A bully. It kills me that people think he's so funny. I think he's bitter, but it's more likely that he's portraying the character written by the same people that control Kelly Clarkson's career, therefore losing what little respect he may, unlikely as it is, have earned.

After reading over my last few sentences, I don't sound much better. I admit it.

Another thing about reality shows: Everyone can fit into one, usually more, of the following categories:
Slut
Bimbo
Gay
Bitter
Egomaniac
Pretty-boy
Athlete
British host
Boring, non-British host

I'm sure there are some I'm forgetting. I should mention, though, that I have nothing against homosexuality, but it's portrayed in such a stereotypical way on TV.

I'm done venting for now.

...Huh? Canadian Idol is real?

I am dumb. :p

All of them, pretty much. Unless it's one making fun of the others, like they intentionally edit everything to make it sound stupid. That's my kind of show.(Like they know it's edited and it's supposed to be edited.)

EXACTLY! Or if you were horribly disfigured in an accident or surgery (yes, you spelled it right :)) or something...yeah, I can understand that. Like, if a woman had breast cancer and needed a mascectomy (sp?), I think it would be perfectly reasonable for her to get breast implants. If someone is horribly scarred in a fire, they probably SHOULD get plastic surgery. But for the purpose of vanity...no.

I agree on the Makeover shows, at least to an extent. I don't think there's anything wrong with plastic surgery - just relying on it to fix all your problems when you're not in any way physically deformed, as 90% of these people do. It really annoys me. And what *really* makes me laugh, is that in the Swan they throw in a "team of expert psychologists" just so they don't look entirely shallow. Honestly, what are they going to achieve in a few weeks?

I'd like to see them tackle some really bad cases for once. I bet they'd never do up a transsexual and I can't think of anyone that would actually be in need of it more, and that really makes me mad. Or people that have been involved in accidents and can't afford to repair themselves.

Ooooh, The Swan is the very worst of them! I can't believe they'd do something like that! Just tear apart a person's face in the name of TV. But What Not To Wear is almost as bad, if not to a more remediable extent.

If I had to kill just one, though, I'd kill Survivor and win my family back on Thursday nights. American Idol is way too much fun to parody to kill, though!

Hey! I like Waht Not to Wear! It gives good tips and it helps a person out who really needs it (for like jobs and stuff -- seriously. NO EXCUSE for wearing PJs to the office...)

I, uh, don't really watch reality shows, tho. Except Beauty and the Geek and I watched MOST of Survivor season 1. But for the most part, I just don't care.

Does American Idol COUNT as a reality show? I like that sometimes. I really wish Clay Aiken would just GO TO BROADWAY ALREADY. He'd be so good there. Broadway needs people who can really really sing.

That's for the free polo shirts you get from the software companies!

But seriously, nah, there's NO excuse for pajamas if you're in any position of power. It's just disgraceful. Heck, I don't like it in the classrooms...

Looking professional for work = not a problem. However, there's no need to gut a person's entire wardrobe just for this purpose. Buy 'em a suit and get on with it, but seriously, there's no need to Fashion Police what people are wearing when they're at home or by themselves or not really doing anything. I mean, really.
