I've always been fascinated by psychic phenomena, and my brother had a good friend who knew someone who apparently had telekinesis (yeah, I know, not a very reliable source). He claimed that after mental preparation through meditation and prayer, he could lift small objects with his mind. However, he suffered nosebleeds as a result. TOTPD!

I've been considering writing a short-story/novel based on my personal research into psychic phenomena. Something along the lines of a mysterious, benevolent seeming group of psions infiltrating the highest echelons of the US government, and in a seamless, bloodless, invisible coup, they gain control over the country overnight. They then begin to capture people with psychic potential, using cybernetics to increase their abilities at the cost of free will. This is where things sorta deviate from what I think would be theoretically possible in psychic ability, as these super-psions would have abilities far beyond things like levitating small objects. Think cars. And balls of fire. Of course, there would be opposition, but those with any psychic ability hoping to challenge the authority are vastly outnumbered and vastly outgunned. Biologically, it would make sense that over several generations, psychic ability/potential would increase, provided that each successive generation trained themselves, but how would budding psions, those who have just started tinkering in the overwhelming complexities of the human mind, hope to stand up to these juggernauts? That is something I want to research further, along with documented instances of psychic phenomena. I think it has potential. |

As cool and interesting as psychic abilities are, I have serious doubt over their true existence.

And not "Yeah, I saw that psiball completely! How weird!" Like real scientists. Personally, I believe if this weren't bull honkey it would be nationally accepted. We don't have any problem with this stuff existing; hundreds of objective scientists would be happy to conduct experiments. We have a problem with blind belief and self delusion.
On a side note, I do indeed know what Cthuluism is, assuming you take it from H.P. Lovecraft. Take this example: are all scientists atheists and agnostics? Sure, religion has nothing to do with their fields, but neither does throwing psiballs and communicating telepathicly. Why don't these people take James Randi up? Click here to find out! I hate to say it, but the only way people are going to get this accepted is through faith. |

Nope. To say one couldn't be a scientist because they are religious is like saying one could not be an athlete because they're studying greek literature. They are two things that have nothing to do with each other. I would think that the scientists who ARE religious would be more open-minded to accpeting this, as they recognize that there might be more to the world than what is immediately visible. |

My family has long claimed that I have strange, bizarre mind powers. For example, nobody ever taught me how to read, yet I've known how since I was about--three, it seems. They also claim that I "think loudly," because they say they can generally get a sense of what I'm thinking about. And of course, my best friend and I have the uncanny ability to think of the exact same thing. We even bought each other the same present for Christmas once. Of course, that might just be people knowing me well. But I definitely do have mild precog of some form or another. I've dreampt of at least one major disaster happening, and a few smaller things happening to me--like the time I dreampt about having a fire drill in school while getting a drink of water, and then, three days later... such it happened. There's also the "radio" incident, where I correctly predicted the song that would come on the radio 3 times in a row. It was funny, actually. First thinking: "Wow, it'd be cool if this song came on the radio next." *song comes on* Second thinking: "Cool! Now, I wonder if the next song will be this one?" *That song comes on* Third thinking: *laughing* "Dang! I did it again! What'll be next?" *thinks of a song that she thinks could not possibly come on* *Said song comes on* I never did get to find out if my fourth prediction came true, though, because I got off the bus. |

I was trying this Psi Ball thing in class (instead of paying attention) and I uh... hit someone with it. And they went to scratch where I hit them. I did it again, and it happened again. I think I may be going crazy! BUT GOOD CRAZY!
